http://www.newsobserver.com/edwards/U.S. Sen. John Edwards plans to offer his plan for improving the nation's health-care system on Monday during a campaign swing through New Hampshire, aides said. The North Carolina Democrat has previously offered some of his ideas in this area, but Monday's speech at a Manchester health center will be the first broad address Edwards has given on expanding access to health insurance and containing the escalating costs of health care.
For months, Edwards has talked on the campaign trail about some of his ideas, including expansion of the federal-state Children's Health Insurance Program to include participants' parents and allowing people over age 55 to buy into the Medicare program. The presidential aspirant has also put forward packages of initiatives intended to improve minority health care and to hold down the cost of prescription drugs.
Monday's speech is part of a two-day trip through New Hampshire that also includes three town-hall style meetings planned in Nashua, Peterborough and Laconia.
