Kucinich takes on GM foods:
(Brought over from politics/campaigns per a DUer's request :hi:)

We talked about his stance on GM foods here last week:

One of the reasons I support DK is that he takes action, repeatedly, on his issues.

1. The Genetically Engineered Food Right to Know Act, which would
require labeling of genetically engineered foods;

2. The Genetically Engineered Crop and Animal Protection Act, which
would set up a "Farmer Bill of Rights";

3. The Genetically Engineered Organism Liability Act, which would ensure
that the creators of genetic engineering technology would assume the
liabilities from the new technology;

4. The Genetically Engineered Food Safety Act, which would require all
genetically engineered foods to undergo a strenuous food safety review
process;

5. Real Solutions to World Hunger Act, which offers several new
initiatives to help developing nations, including an international fund
for sustainable agriculture research; and

6. The Genetically Engineered Pharmaceutical and Industrial Crop Safety
Act, which would place a permanent moratorium on pharmaceutical and
industrial crops grown in an open-air environment, or grown in commonly
used food sources such as corn.

2. This is a major reason for my support of Kucinich. As far as I know,

no other candidate is concerned about GM foods. I'm convinced most Americans would be angry if they realized how GM foods were put in the marketplace without informing consumers. I don't think most Americans realize they have been consuming GM foods for years. Americans have accepted fast foods and other unhealthy eating habits but to deliberately choose to load up on fats and sugars is very different from having your food tampered with without your knowledge or consent.

5. I agree.
And if Americans were aware of the bigger picture, with corporate ownership of all food production and ecological drift, they would be even more angry.

4. Ditto with DemBones. This, war & Palestine are my MAIN reasons
but Kucinich meets all my reasons so comfortably that I don't even need to have a main reason with him!

Go DK... GO, GO, GO! Help us save our future, save our children and save the world!

6. I got so more than that hes great on all
Has a respectable message on abortion, as pro labor as you can get, big environmentalist, bona fide lover of peace, anti death penalty, very staunchly for protecting medicare and social security, department of peace, not a militant or a neo-militant, hes humble, and so much more not to mention I think he loves RFK like I do when I heard his message to us in Baltimore he mentioned the ripple of hope as Bobby called it I nearly was brought to tears. Please hear us DNC this man has heart and in my opinion a shot hes won good in a mostly republican district keep it up Dennis will enjoy calling you President Kucinich and will vote for you in reelection in 2008 because I cant vote next year.
