shrub forcing himself on female Black Soldier (pic)..pathetic

pathetic example...forcing himself on a female Black Soldier...degrading her in front of other troops...showing an unacceptable example for other military superiors...pulling female soldiers over toward himself so he can kiss her...thought this behavior stopped after the tail hook scandal....most Federal Supervisors would be FIRED for this behavior....

2. Isn't that flag on his shoulder backwards?
I thought it was customary to depict the blue canton on the left? Or does Bush just have his head on backwards in this picture?

Thats a pretty goofy mistake, if it is one.

4. wow
i think it is on backwards! at first i thought somehow the picture might have accidentally been mirrored in photoshop or something before they slapped the AP logo on it, but the "US ARMY" on the soldier's uniform is correct. what idiot screwed that one up!?

5. The Union is always placed closest to the heart.
So worn on his left shoulder, it would be oriented 180 degrees from what you see here. I agree, though, it does give the appearance of being backwards.

8. Another way to remember
is to visualize where the flying flag is attached - The Union or star end of the flag. That is always the 'front' or direction it normally moves forward. The pix is correct.

However I believe bu$h is desecrating the flag by wearing it. The very act of AWOL going to Iraq in the first place for a 2½ hour staged photo op in a war zone for campaign purposes at tax payers expense. The whole junket should be paid for by the republican party.

7. No, the flag is correct.
On a uniform, the blue field goes forward. Same on vehicles.

10. The rule is, star field always forwards so flag is advancing
Edited on Sun Nov-30-03 07:13 AM by Cronus
So the blue star field is to the front on each shoulder, so the right shoulder has a reverse flag on it. The idea is to always have the flag flying correctly in relation to the soldier's direction of travel as if the soldier was creating the wind by moving forwards.

I don't have a link, but we had a discussion about that a couple of years ago on bartcop. I think if you search for flag patches you'll find both types available for that purpose.

12. Misleading heading on post
You can't say he's forcing his attentions on her, when she's got a huge smile on her face. I agree he's staging it for the photo-op, but let's keep our feet on the ground when criticizing the guy.

The reason he's still as high as he is in the approval ratings are that nearly half the poll responders would be delighted to get Bush's personal attention.

What about a heading like: Our soldiers need flak jackets and better access to VA hospitals, not bogus kisses.

15. the smile = embarassment, shock
Heck, I'd probably smile too. The feeling of shock and violation probably didn't sink in until Bush took off immediately after his fake hugs without even staying for dinner. I'm sure she still feels violated about the way she was used by Bush.

17. yes, to get violated like that in front of other troops is shocking
Edited on Sun Nov-30-03 12:07 PM by amen1234
and she will no doubt feel very violated as others feel compelled to follow-the-chicken-hawk-example and grope/paw her too....notice how she is pulling her 'shaking' hand back and shrub grabbed her behind to pull her forward toward him...

shrub should set a better workplace example after the Navy tail hook scandal, the Army boot camp scandal, and the AF Academy scandal...all involved higher level officers, groping and pawing lower level troops, and the higher level officers WERE FIRED....

At the very same time, there was no sexual abuse of male soldiers by Senator Clinton. At all times, Senator Clinton conducted herself with dignity. She did not grope, paw and kiss male troops. shrub should apologize for his unacceptable work place behavior, and notify all commanding officers that they are NOT to paw, grope and kiss troops under their command....
