Poll question: Should the Dems put a candidate on the ballot in California??
Edited on Fri Jul-25-03 01:23 PM by CMT
The arguement is that if we do we are undercutting Gov. Davis because it would give Democrats a reason to vote Yes on the recall if they could vote for another candidate to replace him.

But, on the other hand if Davis loses the recall the winner on the second ballot which could include five or six Republicans and other party candidates would be elected governor even if he/she garnered 20% of the vote.

So far Democrats are saying they won't list a candidate on the second ballot for voters to choose from if Davis loses the recall election.

Do you agree with this or not. If not, what Democrat would you like listed on the ballot--it should be one so that we don't divide our vote. If you vote YES please list who you would want listed on the ballot.

Thank you.

2. No
A Dem would vote NO on the recall and can write in Bustamante. The California Dem Party that is sticking together is the same California Dem party that took every major statwide race last November.

4. Yes! Davis should pay for as many repugnicans as possible
to be on the ballot! They should be the slimiest,meanest, nastiest bunch of sob's that can be found (or the first 200 repugs you see, same thing). They should also be people with the same name or similar names to;
Darrel Issa
Ahnold
Bill Simon
Richard Riordon
etc,

I would like to see a Darel Issa on the ballot, and a Darren Issa, and a Darrel Isa, and a Darrell Issa, and a Darrel Isssa and an Arnold Schwarzengruben, and a Billy Simon, and a Will Simon, and a Dick Riordon, Dick Rearden, Dick Riorden, etc

Bury them effin repukes!!

Go Gray "Bengal Tiger" Davis!!!

I DON'T RECALL!!!

6. Alternate Choice: Jerry Brown
It doesn't seem too complicated to tell Democratic voters to vote no on the recall, but to still have a decent candidate to choose should the recall pass.

One nice thing about California Democrats: they are smarter than sheeple and can understand a complex strategy like "pleading in the alternative."

7. For a while I was wondering if they should come up with
one very strong Dem candidate, but after thinking about how illegitimate this whole recall process is, I changed my mind. Leaving Dems off the ballot makes a clear statement that this shouldn't be happening at all.

8. I'm moving closer to that view
if we lose and Davis is ousted then the state gets what they deserve and the GOP will have to somehow come up with a way to fix things. Good Luck.

10. At first I didn't agree
But now I do. It's the only way. We have to show solidarity. And even the if the republicans win - they won't be able to do much better with the mess we got going on in here.

13. Okay, maybe I'm coming around
to this point of view also...

I think we need to stand firm with Davis and not give people any reason to vote YES on the recall ballot.

But damn, it scares me not to have the option to vote for someone in case the recall goes through. Not sure enough people would vote for Camejo to get a plurality.

12. No
They'll split the liberal vote from Camejo. It'd be nice to see the Dems letting the Greens into the spotlight instead of vice versa; Camejo has a reasonable chance, especially since the GOP vote will be hopelessly split.

14. If the Democrats get out and vote for no recall,
there doesn't have to be any other candidate on the ballot. It's still possible that Davis will beat the recall and keep his office as long as enough Democrats vote. On the first part of the ballot I'm going to vote against recall. I don't know what I'll do on the second part of the ballot...I sure as hell won't vote for any Repuke, so I might just have to write in Bustamonte.

18. I'm sorry, but...
If the recall does happen, and there is *NO* Democrat on the ballot, isn't that just the same as letting the Republicans put whomever they want in the Governor's Mansion?

And I really don't want it to be Bill Simon.
