hourly cost of Air Force One
Does anyone know the hourly cost of flying Air Force One? I usually listen to the news channels all day long and I am so sick of the replay of Bushes latest photo-op. Yes, it was soooooooo dangerous flying in under the cover of darkness. I guess Michael Jackson was getting too much press time. Someone had to put Jacko in his place.

2. About $40,250 an hour ...
This, gleemed from a review of Air Force One with Harrison Ford ...

http://apartment42.com/afo_ew.htm

According to a House subcommittee report, Air Force One costs $40,250 an hour to operate (the Air Force says it's more like $35,000 an hour).

And the American people don't even get frequent air mileage credit!

7. 10-11 hours each way: Almost $1 Million for 1 1/2 HRS OF TURKEY TIME
WHAT A WASTE OF OUR MONEY.

Frankly, If I was over there I would want him to show his face...

But I would want him to bring me the fuck home too.

10. This should be paid for ...
by the RNC since the only reason it happened, was to get votes out of a handful of people.

I hope these people are at least spart enough to know that he doesn't give a crap about the welbeing of the troops

Cheers
Drifter

8. Flight time ...
Edited on Sat Nov-29-03 08:55 PM by white_rider
Crawfish TX to Andrews AFB: about 4 hours
Andrews AFB to Saddam International: 10 hours
on the ground in Baghdad: 2.5 hours
return to Crawfish via Andrews: 14 hours

About 30.5 hours or $1,227,625 for this photo op. Probably more since the House figures I cited above don't include meals and other accessories (for example, the journalists were supposely equipped with body armor).

Also $1.2 million probably could fly allot a fair number of soldiers home for Thanksgiving dinner with their folks!

11. Meanwhile, a soldier who is home on leave is
using his time trying to raise money to buy used bullet-proof jackets to take back to Iraq for his troop. Someone called this in on C-Span during an open session of WJ to discuss Bush's 2.5 hour turkey.

12. I can remember a democratic president doing quite a bit
of campaigning with Air Force One. We don't have a leg to stand on with this, I suggest it's dropped. If this was Al Gore (and I know someone's gonna stop reading at the word Gore and spout off in all caps that Gore wouldn't have sent them in the first place, but that's not the point) we'd be saying how great it was that he put up with 26 hours of flying time to give thanks with the troops. Just like the FReeps are across the street.
