even if a Repub becomes Gov of Cal
Bush won't win it in 2004, Repubs think getting the Governorship will help Bush

2. And I'm sure
they will not be in a cooperative mood. Plus, getting into office in this recall will be a fool's victory. The state is in deep shit and a Repuke won't have the balls to do what it takes to get it out: go after the thieving energy companies and raise taxes. Enjoy your (short) stay in Sacramento, suckahs! And something in me says that the obviousness of this power play will backfire on the Rethugs and Davis might actually survive out of voter spite.

5. I don't know about that
I'm in California.... In Los Angeles County. I'm the only person I know who cares (and will bother to vote) and is on the side of Davis.

California is a dem state.... but there are large pockets of repub area. You know I was thinking.... why does it only take less than a million signature to put on a $30-$35 million election when we don't have the money for it!! There are around 34 MILLION people in California. It hardly seems like a representative enough amount of the population to make a huge costly and unnecessary change.

Since it's going through... I'm sure the Republicans played their cards right. Most people don't care enough to go to the polls. I just hope that Riordan runs.... that way at least if Davis gets the ax we won't be stuck with the loser from the last election or the $$ for the recall (I hope that guy goes bust from his investment!).

My very politically apathetic brother said he's going to register to vote just so he can vote for the Terminator to be the governor. If he runs, he'll probably win hands down just from kids like that. Sigh.....

3. and think of the mess they inherit...
You know the old saying "Careful what you wish for, you might get it"? I'd say that applies in spades w/the Cal Repugs. Fine, take over the governorship and inherit that big old mess of a budget and let's see who is in the shithouse in 3 years. Repubicans have always made a huge mess of things in California.

4. Maybe they'll hire Katherine Harris?
Dirty tricks like purging the voter data base could help them win.

There's lots of stuff that's not under the ocntrol of the legislature.

7. You're right and you're wrong-
California WILL NOT give it's electoral votes to Chimpster in 2004. Just too many Dems here.

However, most republicans DON'T THINK that ousting Davis (and even electing a Pub) will help Bush in 2004. In fact, most Pub strategists think that this recall will hurt Bush's chances here in 2004. Why? Because if Davis stays in and the situation in CA doesn't improve, you can point at Democratic leadership as a failure and a reactionary vote may give Bush an edge.
