False Accusations of Terrorism in My Hometown
GREENSBORO, (NC) -- The crime itself was extraordinary: A Greensboro baker accused of stealing at least $30 million worth of recipes from a Pennsylvania competitor. Throw into the mix police claims that the baker had possible ties to terrorism, and a magistrate set Mazen Said's bond at a whopping $2 million.

Today, police involved in the case admit they have no evidence to support their terrorism claim. They won't even say how the accusation arose. The magistrate who set Said's bond based on those accusations declined to talk, too.

Welcome to the world after the Sept. 11 attacks, where law enforcement authorities in the Triad and across the country have said little or nothing about investigations into someone suspected of having links to terrorism.
