Bush himself has triggered the self destruct event. House of Cards fallin
Those staunch old money Pubs now see the error of their judgement. They had invested in this Bush as the guy to do the job(for the Pubs way of life) but now see him as a RUN AWAY, OUT OF CONTROL, PREZ.

Being pragmatic, the gears have begun to spin in the direction of his removal and the saving of the Pub Party. The Larger Picture shows a stumbling Bush and the sinking ship.

The rats are jumpin. The oilers and wipers are also jumpin. The cooks are packing, and we know what happens when the cooks decide to go... everyone else will follow.

Except the Shrub and staff

Oh My, what a specticle this gonna be.

Bushy, like many despotic leaders of the past, has proven to the world he is unfit for the office beyond a doubt and must be removed/

2. I wish I could share....................
your optimism, but I don't think it's going to be that easy. There are still waaaaaayyyy too many loyalists to this illegal regime and they are not going to go peacefully. I agree that in the past few weeks, Shrub has taken a hit and his reputation as a straight shootin', everybody's pal, let's have a beer together sort of guy has been tarnished. It's going to take much more work and revelations about this man's character (or lack thereof) to convince a wide majority of Americans that he is a crook and an intellectual midget. It can be done, but there is much work ahead.

showed a video of Dr. Dean revealing one more of Shrub*s campaign lies and made a great statement. Tweety then looked at the camera and said "He sounds like Chauncey Gardner." He is not helping our country.

their desire: to make the LOLO the Prez.

Walking on water and poking the waters with his umbrella indicating depth was very clever way to bring fantasy into the story.

7. Way too early to declare victory.
Let's not make the same mistake Bush made by prematurely declaring victory.

These Neocons have come a long way recently. I just do not seem them giving up without a massive fight. They have way too much invested in this current administration and in this military/industrial/media construct.

The airing of videotapes showing the corpses of the Hussein brothers was probably the first stunt in what will be a series of stunts designed to deflect atttention away from emerging Bush administration scandals.

Seriously, have you seen Rummy's face recently? To me, he does not look like someone who is just about to throw in the towel. He looks pissed off and ready to do damage.

20. the powers that controlled reagun realized that they actually
don't want a "thinking" pResident...reagun served their purposes well... his biggest credential was his "acting" abilities...falling asleep at major Nato meetings...likely had alzeimers disease for many years before the public was told...he simply continued to read off the telepromter, even when he didn't know where he was...

and then, the reTHUGlicans realized that a "puppet" who could read teleprompters (written and orchestrated by the powers) was all that was needed...

as bush* himself has noted...he's just a media creation...

after nixon, idealists passed laws to open pResidential records after years had passed, because these are OUR records, and it prevents further nixonian crimes and teaches us lessons...

bush* continues to prevent the opening of the reagun Presidential records, because it would expose the same criminals that continue to operate in his regime...it's time to demand the opening of the reagun records and expose the current criminal adminstration...

21. The powers that controlled Reagan were Bush, Sr. cronies
I think the only one on the "inner circle" who wasn't a Bush crony might have been Don Regan.

Bush Sr. and his cronies WERE Reagan and his policies and his practices. Especially after the attempted assassination attempt when Reagan started showing signs of Alzheimer's.

23. I suspect the payments are the second installment for services rendered
Tax cuts, environmental deregulation, destruction of UN (attempted), anti-worker legislation, anti-woman legislation, etc, etc, etc. They paid the first half up front to get in power and now the second half is due. So they might be really pissed with him, but they made an agreement and have to stick with it.

37. No, the rats aren't jumping at all.
The invisible captain may be making the poor little shrub walk the plank, but rest assured that the powers behind him are NOT jumping ship.

George W. Bush has never (imho, at any rate) been anything more than a cardboard cut-out sitting in the oval office while the real powers did their dirty work out of sight. They will willingly sacrifice him or anyone else to maintain power; they do not care.

They may very well be a tiny minority of what was once the Republican Party of Abraham Lincoln and have certainly dragged that party to the far right wing of feudalism/fascism, but they are still in power, still holding the purse and puppet strings.

Who are they? Probably the same folks who sit on the boards of PNAC and Carlyle and Halliburton and all the rest, but also people who benefit from the policies enacted by the current administration.

Has anyone seen the little gem going around about Bill Gates and how "generous" he has been in funding AIDS drugs for Africa? That his "generosity" may in fact be a cover for his support for continued enforcement of the intellectual property laws that protect his Microsoft empire and his personal billions?

The rats aren't jumping; they're still drowning in the bilgewater. They, in fact, are us.

41. They haven't lost anything. . . . yet
Oh, I agree with you that they may be casting li'l shrubbie adrift, but they aren't cutting their losses because they haven't lost anything yet. They are still in power, still controlling the money. If they've lost a little control over the press, and if maybe part of their scheme to control future elections is getting some visibility that they'd rather not have had, well, that might be the worst of it. But they've got a year and more to fix that little problem, and so far the damage isn't permanent.

My point is that the ship was never his to begin with. Poppy's maybe, but never *'s.
