3. Electability, Mr. Kleeb
Edited on Wed Nov-26-03 01:56 PM by The Magistrate
In the current crisis, no other thing matters much.

My standards of acceptability on issues are broad in any case; in my lifetime, no political figure has ever quite matched my own particular views, after all, and besides, nothing ever turns out quite the way it was planned, anyway....

7. Don't call me Mr. please, makes me feel old
Electablity to me is an engima, I don't know who's the most electable and what not but I understand where you are coming from.

6. Clark - liked what he had to say
I didn't know much about Clark, just vaguely remember reading about him from the Kosovo campaign and thinking that he's sort of an unusual general. Then he showed up on CNN and I thought he made a lot of sense, but he struck me as being in the Colin Powell/make war sensibly mode.

After a while I noticed that his critiques started getting sharper as the war progressed, but then the fighting stopped and his face appeared less often on-air. This summer I committed to the Graham campaign, but we know where that went.

Then I started hearing about the draft movement. I listened with a mild level of skepticism and found that he was speaking my language. He wasn't just a typical Pentagon jarhead, but he held forth on basic Constitutional principles and showed a keen and mature understanding of the history behind why the country made the Constitution that it did and how that Constitution has shaped us as a people.

Slowly it dawned on me: This was the president I've been waiting my whole life to vote and work for. This man understands America and knows how to stick it to the bastards who've been abusing her for the last 23 years.

12. thanks for a thoughtful post on this
Haven't made up my mind. Prefer Moseley Braun if I were just going by my heart and gut. Dean sounds really fiesty and smart, actually so does Kucinich. BTW Letterman sure likes to mention Mr. Kucinich! and the piece on Dean on Letterman was funny with Biff H getting a physical from him. Any name recognition is good, I guess. Clark is very smart and has military credibilty... makes Bush look more clueless about world affairs. Not my pick, though. I don't dislike any particular one and need to think more about it.

I like Braun, I don't know much about her views but she's a good woman. I dont watch Letterman but Ive seen Jon Stewart mention Kucinich a couple fo times.

because he is electable. OR maybe not. I like his conviction. One of those things you just sense about a candidate.
