Poll question: Would you vote for Arianna as GOV of CA?

I’d vote for her in a hot second, and it would be the sweetest slap in the face
to all those Reich Wing Republicans.

What do you think?

1. Yeah...
...I prefer Camejo, though (my preferences are currently Camejo, then Arianna, then Gray Davis, then Ahnold, then Simon, and finally Issa).

18. Same here
and I am telling all my friends and realatives that are Democrats to do the same.

So many people don't think you can vote for the Gov candidates if you vote no.

I really hope Arianna runs.

7. Not any more

She got fed up with it a few years ago. You should read some of the blistering things she's written about the current mis-administration!

8. you really need to go to her website and read her writings
you would see that she is nowhere near being who she was when married to Huffington... and I used to be her biggest critic, but now, I'm her biggest fan.

Arianna has the right idea... I'm not sure that I would vote to recall Davis, as I don't see exactly why he should be punished for a broken system he inherited, set into place by Wilson and further agitated by Bush's energy goon-squad (Enron, Williams Energy, et al) who tried to financially rape the state of California 3 Decembers ago with out-of-control energy prices.

I'm offended that Davis, who won his election by the people, is now the subject of a recall because Bill Simon can't accept that he's too much of an unqualified idiot to be taken seriously as governor.. the people of this state have already spoken on the matter. I'm sick and tired of the repugnicans being unable to stomach the truth when the people speak.. and it's not to their liking--how immature and childish they all are!!!

The last thing the State of California needs is another pompous, over-rich repugnican millionaire with an overblown sense of entitlement to have his own way who thinks that absence of experience and people skills, but loads of cash, is all anyone needs to successfully deliver this state out of its horrendous debt. It took longer than 6 years for this to develop into what it is today.

9. how can anyone trust her
A few years ago she was a Babs Olson, Ann Colter clone. She also was involved in a fake marriage. She wouldn't get my vote for anything.

11. people grow & change
it is evidence of an active mind. whatever she was, she is now one of the most thoughtful columnists from either the left or right in the country. that's why i would vote for her. she is not knee-jerk anything. but, i will vote first against the recall.

I don't trust people who huge swings in ideology in a short time. I think it's either fake or she's a flake.

On her website she tells HOW and WHY she saw the light.
It's as real as can be. See her in person and witness her passion!

25. Reagan was a Democrat
do you feel that he still displayed Dem tendencies as President?

Arianna, in her own words:

What prompted the transformation in my political thinking

The Los Angeles Times
Sunday
March 12, 2000

As anyone reading my column over the last five years knows, this certainly has been no overnight flip-flop. And for those few sturdy souls who've plowed through "The Other Revolution," the largely unread book on the crisis in political leadership I wrote in my mid-20s, it's clear that the seeds of "How to Overthrow the Government" were sown a long time ago.

Having spent my college years at Cambridge, studying under John Maynard Keynes' disciples, I found myself inhaling a healthy skepticism of the power of the free market to bring about the good society. When I later rejected Great Society-style government programs, it was because they did not achieve the social justice they sought, not because they were expensive. But I never endorsed trickle-down let-them-eat-cake solutions, either. Indeed, right after the 1992 election, I gave a speech in Washington challenging conservatives to remember the biblical admonition that we will be judged by how we deal with the least among us--and to bring this to the very heart of public policy.

It was then that Newt Gingrich, who happened to catch the speech on C-Span, called and asked me to speak at the Republican congressional retreat. As he put it to me then and repeated two years later in his first speech as speaker, there was greater "moral urgency" in "coming to grips with what's happening to the poorest Americans" than in balancing the budget.

I admit: I was seduced, fooled, blinded, bamboozled--call it what you will. But it didn't take long before I recognized that the Gingrich spiel was only empty rhetoric. And readers of my column were made privy to each realization as it occurred. Disillusioned with the right, did I fall in love with the left? No, because the path I was searching for would take us beyond the standard left-right paradigm and provide new solutions to the greatest crisis America is facing today: the fact that we have become two nations, one basking in unprecedented prosperity, the other left to choke on the dust of Wall Street's galloping bulls.

31. if you totally buy into her, fine
But it will take alot more time before I buy into her. If she holds the same or similar views ten years from now maybe I'll trust her. As I've stated, I find people who make major swing in their lives suspect on many levels.

10. People Like Arianna
are better and more valuable outside of the system. Getting her bogged down in the daily debate over budgets and waste contracts, etc. means she can't continue to do the awesome job of highlighting the gaps in government policy.

23. I'm confused
Peter Camejo isn't a Democrat either - he's a Green and a former presidential candidate of the Socialist Workers Party! So, what's the problem with Arianna not being a Democrat? She is an independent thinker and is rightfully registered independent.

29. I remember her rants from her Clinton bashing days
and she has more connections to the oil cabal than she lets on through her ex-husband.

Even though she has dissassociated herself from the presently PNAC dominated Republican party because as she herself said that she had an epiphany, she still is mostly conservative or right of center. I do credit her with leaving the Republican as it is today.

15. Davis hasnÕt educated the public in how ENRON É

has ruined CAÕs economy, Arianna would.

What does it take to get a rise out of this guy?

Say something, FIGHT God Damn it!!!

Arianna would not play the diplomatic politician, she would TELL THE TRUTH
and expose what REALLY is going on and energize people to go out and VOTE!!!!

She would take it straight to ENRON and the Bushies.

She got the BALLS to do it, unlike Davis.

Davis hasnÕt made his case, heÕs a poor communicator.

He thinks he can just say, IÕll protect a womenÕs right to choose, and thatÕs it!

Cue the Johnny Carson music, thanks for coming out folks.
