Former surplus + 3 yrs of deficit equals. . .?
And, more to the point, what do the wars and HLS efforts add up to?

I'd like to find out what portion of the debt accumualted w/ W* is for the items the GOP will argue as legitimate reasons for the debt, i.e., let's leave aside the legitimacy of the Iraq adventure. For now.

Anyone have an article they can point me to? Or, for those w/ good memories, rough (to exact) numbers of surplus and deficits. My poor memory has it something like:

250+
180-
347-
500- (current estimate for this year...)

That's 1.280 trillion, right? I realize this is a reflection of both spending and tax cuts, but I'd like to formulate/collect some research re: *wholly owned GOP spending outside of financial constraints* w/ the emotive "war on terror" arguments removed.

Thanks in advance for any articles or sites that do the same.

And sorry if this has been done to death, mods/fellow DUers. Was not around much for several months. . .
