Bush said we are in a recession today

Bush defends budget deficits, says economy will improve

DEARBORN, Michigan (AFP) - President George W. Bush brushed aside criticism of a record federal deficit in his budget projections, saying the recession and the war in Iraq are to blame.

"We've got a deficit for a couple of reasons," Bush said during a visit to Dearborn, Michigan.

"The main reason is, is that when you're in a recession, less money is coming into the Treasury. When the economy slows down, there's less tax revenue coming into the US Treasury. And we've been going through slow economic times."

He added that the war in Iraq has been expensive as well.

hasn't this guy been saying the economy is going to improve for like the last 2 years?

I'm just waiting for all those rich buddies of his to start putting up factories or gas stations or fast food joints or walmarts by my house so I can just get a job. Boy I can't wait, good times ahead, good times!!!!

2. Bush has been saying we were in
a recession since he was campaigning in 2000. Now it's true thanks to his careful fiscal management. Take a bow Georgy Porgy. You made your wishes come true.

3. What TIME did he say this?
I ask because the market took a nosedive right before 3 pm. It dropped like a rock off a cliff.

4. Not sure. I don't think they show him talking live anymore
He was on MSNBC and CNN today, but they pick and choose what they want to show. I seen the same thing on both channels at different times of the day. This little nugget was never aired for some reason?

7. The reason is he gave our SS money to his rich cronies.
But you have to admit from your quote, this is a man with a profound grasp of economic theory! Recessions bring less money to the treasury. Who could have foreseen that? And "going through slow econimic times". And this is the man Democrats accuse of not knowing what's going on? The man is growing from a shrub to a tree: a monkey-puzzle tree!!!!

11. Great Timing - a week ago it was "THE RECESSION ENDED 11/01"
but as always, the media lets Bush say opposite statements - nut then complains if someone says at least one of the statements musr be a lie and Bush is a liar.
