4. republicans know he's the best/easiest candidate to get beat
and Bush-backers are sending him and have sent him plenty of money.

Are people who have voted republican genuinely supporting him? Yes

But no republicans, with any understanding of what it means to be a republican can and are supporting Dean with the hope and/or belief that he would beat Bush

A Republican co-worker (not a Freeper-type, and there ARE plenty of non-Freeper Republicans), who I have a lot of respect for, made my day last weekend when he told me his father-in-law sold him on Dean. I haven't tried to - this is a dear friend with a good head on his shoulders, I figured he'd make the right decision eventually.
