As of Wednesday, 235 U.S. soldiers have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq, according to the Defense Department's most recent figures.
On or since May 1, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 97 U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq, according to the Pentagon's most recent figures.
Here is information from the U.S. military on the latest U.S. casualties in Iraq.
Spc. Jon P. Fettig, 30, Dickinson, N.D., was killed July 22 near Ar Ramadi, Iraq. Fettig was killed when his Heavy Expanded-Mobility Tactical Truck was hit by a rocket propelled grenade. Fettig was assigned to the 957th Engineer Company (V Corps), Bismarck, N.D.
Cpl. Mark A. Bibby, 25, Watha, N.C., died July 21 in Baghdad, Iraq. Bibby was traveling in a convoy when an improvised explosive device exploded. He was assigned to Headquarters Detachment, 422 Civil Affairs Battalion, Greensboro, N.C.
Sgt. 1st Class Christopher R. Willoughby, 29, Phenix City, Ala., died July 20 in Baghdad, Iraq, when the vehicle he was riding in rolled over. Willoughby was assigned to Headquarters Company, 221st Military Intelligence Battalion, Fort Gillen, Ga.
A U.S. soldier was killed July 23 in an attack on a convoy near Mosul in northern Iraq, the military reported. No identification was given pending notification of next of kin.
