The Queen Is More of a Man Than Bush
Died laughing at news blurb yesterday. It said Bush (not WH or secret service; but Bush) asked the Queen for even more security at Buckingham Palace than the tremendous amount that is already planned. Liz said "no". Think about it. She will be at the same location and thus in the same danger as him. It isn't bothering her but our brave little buckaroo is scared!!

Way to go, Georgie....maybe you should put on that flight suit for the Queen and prance around the Palace showing her what a macho man you are!! Oh..and that reminded me of something on Bush's innaugeration day that was discussed here at Democratic Underground (which began on the day of the innaugeration).

Remember the innaugeration "car"? Remember what a sinister, wierd looking thing that looked like a tank (and this was way before 9/11)??? Media commentators told us about all the direct hits from various weapons it could take and that it had it's own air system in case of chemical attack, etc.?? What the hell was this ugly little coward afraid of back then??---(hmmm, maybe they already knew that terrorists were going to attack but bin Laden hadn't given them an exact date). And to think that so many men in this country think this daddy's boy is a real man!!

1. As I noted in a post this weekend . . .
the Queen has faced enemy fire - at the age of 10, when Buckingham Palace was bombed during the Blitz.

W., as we all know, has never heard a shot fired in anger. Not that combat service should be a necessary prerequisite for the office of president, but it's ironic that this little ol' dowager has seen more of war than Captain Codpiece of the TANG.

2. hatrack---that's exactly what I was thinking
when I heard it. They were there during the bombing and her parents stayed right through it all and walked among the people. He must seem to her like such a pathetic pussy.

4. Hey, that's nothing...
I've heard Charles is more of a queen than... never mind.

Does the phrase "Total and utter coward" ring a bell? Buck house is one of the safest places on the planet: Even safer than AWOL from the National Guard, and you don't get further from the bullets than that...

6. I LOVED the way it was phrased!
One courtier said: "They wanted blast and bullet-proofed windows and curtains and some strengthening to the walls of the President's suite and other rooms at the Palace where he would be spending time. The President's security men seem obsessed with the idea of an airborne attack on the Palace.

<snip>

The Queen has also limited the number of American security staff who will stay at the Palace. "Her Majesty's view throughout was that since there are going to be 5000 British police officers involved in the security operation for the President, it's not unreasonable to expect her guests to have some faith in their abilities," the courtier said.

8. The Queen Is Not A Man
You wanted to say that the queen is more courageous than George Bush, didn't you? It's not that difficult to say that directly. You don't need to bring gender into it. Men are not more courageous than women.

9. the Queen Mum was tougher than "Chicken George" too!
Edited on Mon Nov-17-03 09:50 PM by Lisa
She shrugged off an enemy hit on the palace, saying that it was minor next to the bombing faced by other neighbourhoods.

And then-Princess Elizabeth joined the military during the war ... she learned motor mechanics. Story is that she can still fix a Land Rover. I notice that she didn't demand special treatment in some high-profile unit, then go AWOL!

Plus, the Queen goes around her property in muddy boots, but she doesn't turn it into a photo-op the way Bush does -- prancing around for the cameras nonstop. Since he's so concerned about bringing "dignity" to the office, he could learn from her -- if he ever decided to pay attention. (As if.)

So here we have two heads of state who are distant cousins. Well, speaking as a Canadian, I think we got the better set of genes in ERII.
