What should be made of the Bush-Nazi story? A Must read.
http://hnn.us/articles/1811.html

This is an article posted to respond to John Buchanan's articles at the NHGazette.com

I am interested in your thoughts on this.

By the way I understand that John Buchanan is challenging Bush in the NH primary on the platform of "truth".

1. I don't think it would make much difference
in the average American's perception of GWB if this story gained a wider audience. People aren't swayed by facts in America -- they're led around by their emotions. It doesn't matter if the evidence is overwhelming in this case (which it is, IMO), some right-winger will say, "Oh, the Bushes were Nazis, were they? Well why did George H.W. Bush risk his life flying planes in WWII!" They'll skip right over the evidence and try to make the reporter out to be a cad for maligning one of our nations "heroes."

3. What is sad is that most people have no sense of historical continuity
So the fascist relationships and methods of operation used by Hitler and the Bushes seem almost invisible to current generations.

I think this story will have resonance with Holocaust survivors and those who actually fought in WWII while the Bushes were backing the Nazis. Their children and grandchildren should be equally appalled.

Also the left and the crusaders for justice and truth among progressives should respond to this story and they should be MORE motivated to fight this power of hate and greed.

But I think as a historical lesson in how fascism works intergenertionally and how the same business and corporate entities who backed Hitler and Naziism pass on the methodologies, instruments resources and mantle of terrorism and genocide for profit to their sons and grandsons - in this case the Bushes, Walkers, Harrimans, Dulleses and Rockefellers, inter alia -- this lesson is one which will be critical to get folks in a democracy to oppose these men and their practices.

I think its significance will grow as the story becomes well known and those like Buchanan who tell it force the media to embrace it as a hot sell (even if it is only to try and debunk the truth which cannot be debunked). They can minimize it but they cannot ignore it ever again.

5. I hope you're right.
I look around and I see very little regard for history. More and more people don't know anything about their own grandparents. What this story needs is something tangible to connect it to Dubya. If the story had hit the presses in say, 1980, when there were many more WWII veterans and Holocaust survivors around, it could've had a lot of impact. I listened to the radio show from the link you posted the other day, and I was intrigued by what Mr. Buchanan said about further revelations. If these revelations give some continuity to the story, proving a link to Dubya and the way he carries on now, this story could sprout new legs.

4. THAT is the meme. But it does not work here...
Because it is NEWS, first and foremost.

Most people are unaware of it.

Few know the details.

As people learn the details and how there is a direct historical line from Hitler to Dubya they will see that it is NOT old news.

It is NEWS and it is a money trail of lies and deceit and fascism.

The coverup continues...
