3. I'm reading it but I'm not buying it
I do think he will fast track getting Iraq to form some sort of government and that will facilitate some greater international joining but I don't believe that this will ever become ceeding control of our military to anyone else.

I might be just hard headed on this but I don't think its possible.

4. Iraq is now Chimpy's hot potato. Get out now, a year before elections.
Colin and Condi will fill in with updates on the Sunday show circuit. It will slowly be sold as a semi-success. Right now it is a chaotic mess. This, most likely was Bremer's recent message to the Chimp.

5. Welcome to DU, arewethereyet. And I agree with you.
The US does not cede military control to others. Unless this is put under a NATO command, the US is not going to hand off its military to some vague international control.

I don't know who is going to send their troops into this mess anyways.

6. Neocons NEED the bases and the oil.
Neocons would rather suffer through a Dem administration (hopefully DLC-approved) than give up either.

7. I agree - No way will they give up the OIL and those rebuilding contracts!
I would be totally shocked if that greedy bunch let go of their precious billions of dollars worth of oil!!

8. Aye, there's the rub
Edited on Sun Nov-16-03 10:11 PM by wtmusic
This is delicious on many levels, but that's the most interesting *rubs hands with glee*. EU will demand control and participation on oil and reconstruction contracts (they will get it) and Iraq will be a mess anyway, costing GWB the '04 election.

9. Sad, very sad, but not a surprise
What has Bush* ever done that got done right the first time and someone else didn't have to come in and clean up one hell of a mess? Now his fuckups are so colossal that it requires the UN to come attempt to straighten up things.

The beauty is that his incompetence has cost over 400 US soldiers their lives, countless Iraqis the same, busted the US economy and cost the US its worldwide reputation as at least moderately fair.

12. I have a bad feeling about this...
Even if * cedes control over the occupation, one must ask why? I suspect that we could see the occupation fail, * blaming the nations in control for being too weak to do the job, and using the failure to drop a nuke on the Iraqis around the oli fields without damaging the fields themselves, thus securing the only thing he ever wanted anyway, while making the EU look fooish.A definite win/win for him!:evilfrown:

13. The privatization of Iraqi resources is illegal under international law
When Iraqi's gain control over their own government, they will be able to rescind any laws and deals that Bremer made. The corporations want the chimp to install a sympathetic Iraqi government quickly and have them draw up a new constitution post haste allowing the privatization of the resources. This is what the mad rush is all about now. They'll be spinning and muddying waters like crazy to achieve this vital goal.

Plus the bonus of a hilarious speech by Al Franken.

14. We take the WIN folks!!!
We were right and had the right strategy all along, at least on the execution of this war. Bush wouldn't listen and got how many troops and Iraqis killed because of his arrogance?

And if he really turns over out troops to international control???? No Democrat has suggested that. That would be wild. The Capitol Building would literally quake! I won't believe it until I see it.

16. What if...
Bush gets Saddam?

And/or...

Bush turns over sovereignty to the Iraqi Governing Council and then pulls the troops out, proclaiming "mission accomplished," with all the fanfare of victory parades and hero's homecoming celebrations for our "brave soldiers?"

What happens to the anti-war candidates then?
