First Question to McClellan: Was Wilson smeared?
Yay! The first question from the press corp (sorry, I don't know the reporter, handsome guy named "John") was about Wilson's accusation of being smeared by the WH. McClellan batted it away, saying if indeed it were true it would be "inappropriate" (hello?? Illegal??) but he has no knowledge that the accusations are true.

7. "That's not how we operate"
He essentially dismissed it, saying more than once "that's not how we operate", and that there's no evidence to support Wilson's claims.

Someone followed up, but he dismissed her too. They did make him stay on it for a minute though.

5. Yee-Ha!
A couple of questions about the sons, but now, back to UraniumGate.

McClellan just jumped in and suggested the critics are just "opponents of the war trying to justify their position."

Swipes at Kerry and Dean, without names: saying that some Dems are trying to change their original position, and others ("a very small minority") are trying to justify their original position, despite "overriding, clear and compelling evidence" for the war.

Bah.

9. Helen's Question re WMD
Does the President still consider it vital to find WMD to uphold his credibility or does he believe, like Wolfowitz, that it no longer matters?

Answer: "I think we've made it very clear that we are confident that we will uncover the full extent of SH's WMD program".

Helen interrupting "Where ARE they?"

McClellan then said "Let's let the truth come through." AMEN, Scott! Let the truth come through and expose your crooked bosses!

13. Oooh, nice parsing, Scott.
"I think we've made it very clear that we are confident that we will uncover the full extent of SH's WMD program".

So, even if "we" uncover the fact that the full extent of SH's WMD program amounts to nil, he hasn't lied, has he?

10. CNN just cut away
and asked for response to the question "Should the photos be released?"

HELLO -- the press was hardly asking about the photos, there was one questions, but what they wanted to know today is

-- Was Wilson smeared?
-- Where are the WMD?

Pay attention!
