Anyone have the answer for this question?
Edited on Wed Jul-23-03 06:55 AM by The Lone Liberal
Saddam Hussein and his sons, Odai and Qusai Hussein were some pretty bad people. This morning's papers are filled with details of horrific acts they have carried out. For over two decades this family of thugs terrorized, tortured and murdered at will and the world is better off without them.

What has me puzzled about this event is why were the Reagan and Bush I administrations actively supporting dealings with this group miscreant? Up until Saddam invaded Kuwait Reagan and Bush I treated him as one of the “good ole boys.” It would have been interesting to have Odai and Qusai in custody and standing trial. Alive they could have perhaps explained why some people sat in their palaces doing business while they waded in blood in the basement.

Not that they will be missed, but I sure would have liked them to have talked about the last twenty years. Now they have been "whacked" we may never know who was dealing with them and where the stands of spider web go.

1. OUR SOBs
Cause they were SOB's but they were OUR SOB's, like numerous RW Latin American generals, the dictator in Zaire, the South African regime, etc.

2. I'm sure you've seen the photo of Rumsfeld shaking Saddam's hand.
That took place back in 1984 when the US was probably selling Iraq some interesting stuff (they must STILL have the receipts for all that in Crashcart Cheney's possession, perhaps). I think the Ray-goon and Bush I regimes were trying to get at the Iraqi oil the friendly-like way, then realized that strategy wasn't working.

4. Republicans created terrorism
With the end of the cold war and during it the Republicans built a military industrial complex. 9/11 and modern day terrorism is a result of I am not a spy, but I think the term is Blow back.

Republicans and Clinton (A Republican democrat) sold America out to whoever was the highest bidder. What we have now is a country run by corporations (The Media), and the Republican Party whom best reflect the managers of the corporations, regardless if the managers of the corporations are in Democratic countries or Dictatorships. See Saudi Arabia as an example.

The fact of the matter is that most in the CIA and FBI don't even have a clue of this secret takeover of our way of life our liberal Democracy as we have known it for over 200 years.

Did anyone ever stop to think that Republicans and Saddam have allot in common?

If they had nothing in common would the Republicans have ever let him stay in power for so long?

The fact of the matter is that the War is not about Islam and the West, or about Middle Eastern Terrorism, and the Jews.

Real Islamic people have no problem with the Jews, or the West. In short the Republican Party created a religious institution of fanatics in Asia, and the Middle East, and used religions such as Islam as a cover for their wars in the Middle East in Asia. If the world lived in peace there would be no need for Republicans or their military Industrial complex, so they would be out of jobs and unemployed, as well as ignored by the people and even worse to them they would be ignored by the media.

The Republicans don't care about Peace, Democracy and Freedom. They don't even know what the terms mean.

3. As usual, completely expedient behavior...
... on the part of the government. The bigger enemy of the time was Iran. Iraq was at war with Iran, and the Reagan-Bush administrations rather cynically believed in that Arab saying, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." Iraq also bought weapons and grain from us....

6. I like this question.
Just tried it on a kreeper-shittohead who was going on and on about how evil Saddam is. I agreed wholeheartedly and then said "it really makes you wonder how Reagan and Rumsfeld could be such huge admirers and supporters of Saddam. Kreeper-shittohead went ballistic and started talking about the Clinton Penis. What a Santorum.

I think the DNC should run ads showing the picture of Rummy and Saddam and describe how Reagan vetoed the sanctions against Iraq passed by Congress after Saddam gassed the Kurds.
