when do schools start in you area?
most schools around here start the second to last week of August, a lot of schools in the South are starting the first week of August

are they starting earlier to prepare for the state tests or to finish the 1st semester before Xmas? schools in NJ don't start until after labor day

2. The schools in Tuscaloosa Alabama
Are starting very early. I can't remember if it's the last week in July or first week in August. I graduated in 1984 and we used to start the day after Labor Day. But I guess all the classes are air-conditioned these days.

Back in the DC area, in Montgomery Co, MD, it starts on August 26th. Here in the LA area, in South Pasadena, it starts after Labor Day (the 4th or 5th).
