2. Good! I hope she wins...

I've been hoping to see this for a long time.

RW whackos are ok with pushing their particular religious orientation on others, but when that argument is taken to its logical conclusion, i.e. including Wiccans, then it's a whole different story.

Hypocrites!

3. Good for him/her!
Didn't read the article so I don't know the sex. A somewhat funny story: They have a prayer before the opening of the Oregon legislative session every day. One day, a Democratic state senator arranged to have a Pagan offer the opening invocation. Several conservative Republicans walked out. I find it very telling that they want to have everyone observe THEIR particular form of worship but are completely disrespectful of others'.

4. Ugh...
That sounds like when the RWs got all pissy in DC about having a Hindu do the opening. You have to wonder what kind of self-righteous short circuit is going on in these people's brains to make them think that they know which is the "right" god (with a lowercase "g").

5. Memo to the fundies: We told you!
Free practice of religion even means religions other than Christianity or Judiasm. Imagine that! Of course, we on the Left warned you that this might happen, and that the better strategy might be for government and religion to remain in separate spheres, but you folks just naively assumed that all Americans are Christian or Jewish.

6. Great to hear...
...perhaps the government will simply decide to end the practice of holding prayers before meetings and that's it.

7. I have long used similar arguments against school prayer
All the right wing fundies just love the idea of school prayer, but if school prayer was upheld, wouldn't the children of tax paying Hindus, Pagans, or (gasp) Muslims have the right to recite their prayers? Even among Catholics and the many Protestant Christian sects there are vast differences.
I mean, would Billy Bob appreciate his child having to pray to Vishnu? Probably not, but neither would Abdul appreciate his child being forced to pray to Jesus.
