"Bush seeks re-election on 'world peace' ticket"
Yahoo news: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ft/20031028/bs_ft/1066565440973

Mind boggling, all of it, especially the headline:

1 hour, 1 minute ago

US President George W. Bush (news - web sites) said on Tuesday he will campaign for re-election next year by arguing that "the world is more peaceful and more free under my leadership".

SNIP!

But, even as he did so, he conceded that "Iraq (news - web sites)'s a dangerous place" and shuffled back from his triumphant declaration on board the USS Abraham Lincoln seven months ago that America had achieved its mission in the Gulf.

Snippage about May 1 landing there:

With 114 soldiers killed since the ending of combat in Iraq - one fewer than during the war - Mr Bush on Tuesday sought to dispel criticism of a premature claim of success, saying the banner was put up by members of the ship's crew.

Mr Bush's comments came in a rare press conference, where he sought to relay his determination to "stay the course" in Iraq.

Loyalists of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s Ba'athist regime and foreign terrorists are trying to "cause people to run", Mr Bush said, but "we will not be intimidated".

Mr Bush who sometimes appeared harried as he responded to critical questioning, said: "I can't put it any more plainly: Iraq is a dangerous place." He repeated the assertion 13 times, and declined to say whether the numbers of US troops in Iraq will have been reduced by the presidential elections next November.

SNIP!

He has to be impeached.

2. Isn't that the truth? I wonder what alternative universe I now live in.
A lot of what was said in the 'news conference' was picked up by the
wire services and can be read in the attached stories underneath the story already posted.

4. It worked for Nixon
Nixon had a secret plan for peace in Vietnam.

Bush has no plan, but he will act like he does.

When will we every learn?

5. What ever shrub is smokin...I want some!
What parallel hell is he living in. The one I can see right here is telling me that the world is still Fu*ked by his actions. You can bet that a large population of the troops will be home b4 the election. I hope he does cuz then our Dem ticket can use his strategy against him.

7. so this will be the next meme
that will be installed in the sheeple's mind--Bush is a "peace" president? He will work it, chew it, send it out over and over until finally he , or whoever is behind the curtain, thinks it was injected into the brains of the meek, frightened followers. George the idiot=world peace. Yup and to say otherwise is to not support the troops! You know, I have to think on it--if they pursue it to it's utmost, really give it their all, and the media is still scared into praising any spew uttered by Bush, it may go over like the Saddam is connected to 9/11 meme. Can you imagine that?

9. Peace...
"Peace is not the product of terror or fear. Peace is not the silence of cemeteries. Peace is not the silent result of violent repression. Peace is the generous, tranquil contribution of all to the good of all. Peace is dynamism. Peace is generosity. It is right and it is duty."
- Oscar Romero

10. I predict his 2004 main theme will be "I saved America after 9/11".
Of course that is utterly false, but what else will they have to run him on???
