What do you think of Jay Rockefeller as a VP choice?
He's been fighting for medical insurance since he's been in congress.
He's got name recognition. He's also from WV which is a HUGE state electorally these days. He was on Russert this week. He seems to be getting a lot of TV time lately.
What do you think? Is he on the short list?

1. Dunno. But he KICKS ASS.
But megabillionaires of the Old World Order should be looked at under a very critical eye.

2. Hmmm
I don't know. Well...I don't know. I think it's about time we had a minority as a vice presidential candidate. Like John Lewis maybe.

3. I also like
Dick Durbin and Russ Feingold. IL is 'safe', but WI is hugely important.

5. gawd no!!!
Rockefeller is not trustworthy. The reason he is on the news is because the chief plutocrats of our realm (of which he is very prominent) have gotten what they need from Dubya.

We are in Iraq for oil. We aren't going anywhere. The Poppy New World Order types want a competent manager for our Empire.

Rockefeller on the news is a death sign for BushCo. Rockefeller on the Democratic ticket is death to Democracy.

Old Money guy who probably would not want to be so totally out in the public eye.

He gets more done moving and shaking behind the scene (so to speak).

I don't have a knee jerk reaction against the very wealthy and powerful. Alot depends on whether they believe in spreading the wealth around or hording it.

10. John Lewis...
...familiar with congress, "looks presidential" (in the words of a right-leaning but open minded Independent friend of mine), strong principled stands, from the south, brings alot to the ticket...

11. If you want electoral votes...
...surely there must be better known candidates or candidates from swing states that have more EVs.

Off the top of my head -

Bob Graham (FL - 27 EVs)
Dick Gephardt (MO - 11 EVs)
Wesley Clark (AR - 6 EVs)
Harold Ford (TN - 11 EVs)
Tom Udall (CO - 9 EVs)
Max Cleland (GA - 15 EVs)
Bob Kerrey (NE - 5 EVs)
Jeanne Shaheen (NH - 4 EVs)
John Edwards (NC - 15 EVs)
Tom Vilsack (IA - 7 EVs)
Evan Bayh (IN - 11 EVs)
Bill Richardson (NM - 5 EVs)
Janet Napolianto (AZ - 10 EVs)
OH, LA, NV, MI, PA....

I believe Rock can deliver WV if the presidential nominee has the right profile, but VP nominees don't necessarily guarantee delivering their home state in presidential elections.

15. Harold Ford...
...won't qualify for VP nomination. He won't meet the constitutional age requirements.
