Bob Graham deserves a second look
I have been watching with interest Bob Graham's conduct since the White House was forced to make the uranium-gate admission, and I have been impressed with his poise, his dignity, and his obvious mastery on national security/intelligence matters. I was very pleased when Graham suggested that if Clinton could be impeached about lying about an extra-marital affair, so could Bush about lying about WMD.

Unlike Kerry, Gephardt, Lieberman and Edwards, Bob Graham voted against the invasion of Iraq. Graham has also raised the alarm about the increased terrorist threat resulting from having our military forces committed in pursuit of a Bush family vendetta against Saddam while Osama bin Forgotten was on the loose.

While I support Dean, I think that Bob Graham deserves a second look as a candidate for the nomination. Graham also deserves our encouragement and support for his courage in demanding accountability from Bush & Cheney.

1. Thanks for posting this. I tried to post this earlier but our site
was experiencing a little difficulty!

Anyone that stands up to the bush crime family like this deserves respect!

2. Not in my book
1. He voted against the war resolution -- BECAUSE IT WASN'T TOUGH ENOUGH, not because it was the wrong thing to do. That's not one whit better than a yes vote in my book.

2. Where was he after Nov. 5, 2000? On vacation out of country? That whole debacle went down in his state, and he was NOWHERE to be seen. Not a peep out of him.

3. AFAIC, he's pretty conservative.

4. I'm very uncomfortable with his ties to the intelligence community. For now, it's beneficial. But I'm not at all sure it's been beneficial in the past, or will be in the future. In short, I don't trust him.

I'm glad he's speaking out, and that helps. But it doesn't assuage my concerns or fears or make up for the hawkish pro-war non-vote.

7. At least he stands up for Israel
Many other so-called progressives won't make that stand.

9. My book says otherwise
Yet again, I will say that I don't care who you support, however . . .

If you don't think Sen. Graham's idea that prioritizing the apprehension of Osama bin Laden and the rest of al Qaeda was a good idea, then I don't know how you can expect the US to be safer since that is the group purely responsible for the worst terrorist attack in US history.

Sen. Graham is not "pretty conservative" as he has now proposed a very progressive federal income tax, with rates on the rich higher than those under Clinton. As Governor, he made the State buy out a load of undeveloped land as part of an environmental policy of his. He also has cosponsored legislation to permit migrant workers from Central America easier immigration/visa access, and has also worked to get Haitians a friendlier immigration policy comparable to that toward Cubans, tho this particular point has never been successful for a variety of reasons. So anyway, I don't think "pretty conservative" is all that accurate.

Hmm, the Election 2000 note is interesting. I will say that Sen. Nelson (D-FL) did not play a prominent role, either, and they are our only statewide Democrats, and I have heard nothing from Florida Democrats regarding anger toward either of our Senators for a lack of appearances during the disaster. I have no further comment on this, as I don't remember particular nationally known Democrats really coming here to Broward County and we were the center of it all. Locals protested very loudly. The rest is a haze to me it was such an embarassment for the State. Katherine Harris's makeup smeared my memory.

4. Coming from you, that means a lot...
By that I mean I respect your opinion, even if we often disagree. I'm convinced that Graham is the one to take it to Bush-though I know Dean would also do an excellent job. May the best candidate win...

6. Where was Bob today when the Senate voted for an independent
investigation into the lies? I understand Kerry, Lieberbman and Graham were no-shows... We may be out numbered but couldn't he and the others try and sway a few republican votes over? It just looks bad......

8. I agree
I support Dean thus far, but Dean, Graham or Clark would probably all be okay in my book. I'm a moderate dem, which means I'm liberal compared to most of the electorate, but not as far left as most on this board.

10. Absolutely...
...I'm tickled...well, something other than pink...by the stem cell benefits among our candidates. He's a lil too conservative for me, but he's certainly no slouch. If he were the nominee, he'd have my vote.
