Some Undocumented Wal-Mart Workers Paid $2 Per Day
Wow! It's even worse than it seemed at first.

The cleaning crews did not receive health insurance and were paid below the minimum wage, sometimes as little as $2 a day, a federal official said.

1. The buck stops at Wal-Mart. But being the good conservatives they
are, they probably won't even get a slap on the wrist.

2. Oh how I loath that company
Just ask someone who lost their small business thanks to them and their crappy Kathy Lee sweatshop clothing.

3. I do not shop there
I'd rather have Mr. Burns nuclear power plant in my town than another Wal-Mart

5. me either!
I too would take Mr. Burns nuke plant over WhiteTrashMart. They are EVERYTHING that is wrong with KKKorporate America. Ain't it sick that they now outrank GM as THE largest employer in this country? If that isn't a "canary in the coal mine" I don't know what is.

4. My town just told Wal-Mart 'No thanks!"
They refused to rezone property so that Wally World could build one of their monstrosities here.

6. below minimum wage?
That isn't even roundtrip bus fare.

Oh, I forgot, most busses don't run at 2 in the morning.

Evil bastards!

7. Walmart stinks
The "old man" was a stinker when it came to recognition of the employees.

Walmart is not what could is any concievable form be called American friendly. The company waves a flag while they screw us Americans in any way they can.

They buy goods from low wage foriegn companies (probably even slave labor produced items), they screw their employees any way they can. Look at the recent articles in Wall Street Journal giving adulations about how Walmart is setting the trend for health care benefit reductions. They call it something like making the company more profitable. What a bunch of shit.

These guys are just plain trash.

Walmart has caused much trouble by shutting down small retailers by opening their 'super' stores in small communities. Yet these small communities love it because their 'leaders' get, well shall we say 'value' for letting Walmart in.

Folks, there is a problem. Walmart SHOULD be a target. Walmart is NOT American friendly, no matter how hard the flag is waved.

America too.

10. How did Wal-Mart get away with this for so long?
I would expect this type of thing to maybe happen in a small lesser known buisness, but a major national chain?

Wow, I hope Wal-Mart has the books thrown at them. I also hope most of Wal-Mart's competitors go after the Red Chinese retail outlet.

This partially explains why Wal-Mart is able to undercut everyone else in prices. I wonder what other illegal actions Wal-Mart is taking to cut their costs.

12. About that $2 a day....
The cleaning contractor business sucks rocks, but that's some kind of anomaly.

Contractors around here are in constant competition for the bottom in charging, and the only way they can lower costs is in labor, so they come up with all sorts of piecework schemes and chargebacks. Some pay "by the room cleaned" and if there aren't enough rooms to clean, or the employees are hit with chargebacks for not cleaning them properly, they can sit around all day "off the clock" and not make any money. They also get screwed on their paychecks, figuring that illegals aren't going to complain.

It's all illegals in that business. Every one of them. The turnover is well over 100% and illegals are all they can get to do the work. Even the illegals are out of there as soon as they can find something else. At Newark Airport, there were hundreds of very short people who couldn't speak English and wearing "Lisbon Cleaning" t-shirts sweeping the floors around the feet of the immigration agents at the international arrivals terminal. After about two years, someone called in a complaint to another immigration office, and the terminal was raided and lisbon thrown out. But only from that terminal-- they're still around in the other terminals. It was assumed a competitor made the call.

The same pay thing happens with limo drivers and couriers. They are paid by the job, not by the hour. They can sit around for hours waiting for a call, and when the day is over, have made two runs totalling $35 in income. That's for sitting around for 12 hours waiting between calls on a really bad day. Cable TV contractors get nailed for chargebacks if a company inspector doesn't like the work. And they never like the work. It goes on... There are more horror stories and sweatshop tales.

America! What a country!

13. Busted. Now WalMart will have to move all its stores to third world
countries in order to be able to pay sub-existance wages
