1. The Almanac is very biased
I'll spare you the 1800 page read. The jist of it is:

Most Americans=Republican; conservative. America is a Republican nation. Democrats can't win elections anymore--when they do it's a fluke--unless they act more like Zell Miller. Only Democrats use dirty tricks in campaigns. Democrats are the party of special interests, while Republicans are "America's party".
