Which Statement by GW Bush Will Haunt Him the Most in 2004?
I really think his "Bring 'em on!" challenge to shoot at our troops will be the most damaging statement surpassing his father's "read my lips!" comment.

Are there others?

1. "Major Combat is over"
in his speech from the Lincoln. How many dead since?

3. Did he actually say that? Official transcripts not helpful
Now the White House is once again attempting to revise history, albeit in a more subtle way -- by changing the title of a major address the President gave about the end of combat operations in Iraq. In the May 1 speech on the USS Abraham Lincoln off the coast of San Diego, the President said, "major combat operations in Iraq have ended." The transcript on the whitehouse.gov website and other references to it (here, here, and here, for instance) are now titled "President Bush Announces Major Combat Operations in Iraq Have Ended." As several blogs such as the site Likely Story have noted along with Dana Milbank in the Washington Post, when originally published, the speech and references to it were titled "President Bush Announces Combat Operations in Iraq Have Ended." The absence of the word "major" is a crucial difference given ongoing combat in Iraq since the President's speech.

17. Its down the memory hole!
I notice it everytime someone mentions "major" combat operations and that is pretty much all that is mentioned now. Shows how you can rewrite history in the minds of people. I encourage everyone to call this "error" when you see it.

4. The entire flightsuit thing
It was so arrogant and so over the top and turned out to be utter baloney. At the time, it was intended to be the backbone of his re-election visuals and now, it may be the image which works the most strongly against that re-election.

5. "We know he had weapons of mass destruction,
we found them."

Or

"We gave him a chance to let inspectors in, and he wouldn't let them in."

(WARNING: This this is not satire. Google if you think I'm kidding.)

7. Saddam and al Qaeda
The quote where he said:

"OK, people. The real truth is that Saddam had absolutely no relations to al Qaeda or September 11th. Sorry I made it sound like they were in bed together, but I just had to lie to you guys so I could start this war and get all their oil and rich war contracts for my buddies. But, um, yeah, Iraq had nuthin' to do with 911."

All right, I know I'm paraphrasing, but you know the quote I'm talking about.

8. I don't think any of them will ...
... the way things are going ... I say this without wanting to ... I wish the opposite ... it's the last thing I'd expect to hear from me ... a life-long Democrat, New Dealer, and idealist ... I wish I could believe otherwise ... something might happen to change things ... but, I expect with the media controlled and well-trained ... nothing will haunt him ... and, with the Diebolds et al slipping into place ... and, time fleeting ... it doesn't look promising ... and, that scares me a great deal ...

I'm channeling the spirit of FDR as we speak.

the administration lying? Every time they open their mouths".

The same goes for Bush-Australopithecus. Every time he opens his mouth, my blood curdles. My fingers reach for the tuning button on the car radio to get rid of him fast. Like fingernails on a chalk board.

Ultimately, I have to agree with David. Out of all his arrogant unintelligent statements, this one will give him the most trouble.

10. The Video Split Screen I'd Love to Make.
Bush behind that podium, leaning as always, and challenging anyone in Iraq to attack our soldiers with his "Bring 'em on" dare.

And the names of the dead and wounded slowly scrolling down with caskets draped in flags.

Shows just how plain dumb the guy is.

Or "weapons of mass production".

Also: "There ought to be limits to freedom"

18. I hated the one from a speech
where he smirked and said there were alot of people who weren't a threat to us anymore implying they had been killed. It was just such a classless heartless statement reminescent of the Texas woman he killed. I reread the SOTU speech trying to find the quote. I'd recommend going back and reading that. What a pack of lies it was!

that said "Mission Accomplished" could be pretty damning.
