What's-his-name Diddy says Dems need to "get back to the streets"
Puffy trims hair & pols

While Sean (P. Diddy) Combs prepares to run in the New York City Marathon — in his spiffy new mohawk haircut — he's giving out some free advice to Democrats running for office:

" look and act more and more like Republicans. ... There's no one to vote for," the Bad Boy Entertainment founder writes in Andrew Cuomo's new compilation, "Crossroads: The Future of American Politics."

"Get back to the streets. … We need some fistfights to go down in the Senate."

1. HELL FRICKING YES
The rappers have been speaking out for a long time about the Bush Cabal. Eminem, P Diddy, and even SNOOP DOG!!!. The only reason why they sing that whore mama crap is because the Record Companies tell them to do those instead of the political music.

2. Do you really believe that???
These bellicose, talentless corporate shills wouldn't touch a political subject if they were promised a Beyonce Knowles blowjob. Would totally ruin their "I don't give a fuck" image, which is what sells their music.

Now, Dead Prez, Mr. Lif, or Boots Riley of the Coup, that's a different matter.....

4. Eminem only did a song at the MTV music awards
Edited on Fri Oct-24-03 01:02 PM by La_Serpiente
on "White America" where he blasts people like Dick Cheney not for criticizing Eminem, but for being arrogant assholes to everyone else.

But the groups you mentioned probably have a better track record.

11. That's true, but I still pine for the days when Public Enemy, The X-Clan,
Rakim, Paris, KRS-One, Ice-T, etc. talked straight up politics and were all over MTV at the same time. Eminem doesn't have a coherent perspective from which to vent politically, and strikes me as misinformed at best. One song out of 100 deals with anything remotely political, and then only in the simplest, most self-serving way. I've had enough of these "rollin' at the club" style rappers, and their guns, and their cars, etc. If I hear one more rapper brag about how large the rims on the wheels of his car are, I'll change my name to Pee Diddley.

6. I know l.l.cool was for pataki so I discounted him right away.
P Diddy was for Carl McCall(I'm talkin' bout Gov of New York, now.

But I didn't see much action outta Diddy for McCall!

But he's right in one respect and that's what we're doin' "takin' it to the Streets"! :hippie:

8. Eminem is a corporate shill.
P. Diddy is his own corporation, what he lacks in artistic talent he makes up for a producer.

And Snoop is above politics. He's as high as a motherfucking kite.

20. Let's not forget Public Enemy and Ice Cube
Getting back to the "streets" means getting back to the working class. P. Diddy has moved into politics now, let's not forget, by starting his polling company. He can buy his way into politics as well as any of the businessmen-turned-politicians in our party.

15. Imagine Paris on MTV! Will never happen.
He's one of the best, though. So much misplaced anger in HipHop; these guys are constantly calling out ho's and rival gang members, and punks who dare talk shit, etc. Paris at least knows who the real enemy is.

18. I especially like the part about "fistfights in the Senate."
Our Dems lack passion. The worst example is perhaps Tom Daschle. Milquetoast personified. I mean, what would it take to make that man angry?
