In 1/2 hour I have to awaken my son before he leaves for the Guard
Edited on Fri Oct-24-03 08:38 AM by Mari333
the uniform is on his front seat. Where they will send him, I dont know. He swears to me they probably wont deploy him, and his lawyer told him NOT to walk out on Nov 13, his discharge date. I am keeping my hopes up that the stink we have made, with lawyers, hardship letters, Sen Levins office, etc, will end up letting him get his legal discharge with this stupid StopLoss bullshite.
I am not feeling well today..I know once I hand him over to those bastards today I could lose him for good. He doesnt understand WHY no one is telling us WHERE or WHAT is going to happen to him.
No one has called, they just said "show up".
So, I am not in good shape..he says dont worry Mom maybe they will just say Okay you have your legal discharge, you served your time.
I hope this happens. If it does, I will keep you posted.
In the meantime, I am going quietly insane with worry and fear. This is not Clintons era, not the Guard and Reserves here to fight for the homeland , its the Guard and Reserves being fragged and clusterf*cked and lied to and being used for the BFEE.
Send some good energy our way please. Send the energy our way that he will be released on his due date or even sooner.
Thank you. Off to spend the rest of the day with my son.
edit to add: he will lose his hard earned business if they keep him.

1. I am not a parent yet
I am just 23 years old but my thoughts are with and your son .

My mom and I talked about this the other night . If my little brother ( who is 10 now ) were in the service right now he would either be in Canada or we would really fight with fists to the end .

Here is some energy :) :) :) :) :)

3. warm thoughts, Mari
coming your way. I'm a mom of a 24-year-old (my one and only) and I'm terrified most days too. If there is anything I can do, just ask.

5. Good energy sent your way...
You and Bobby are in our thoughts and prayers today.

I wish I knew the words that would help. I don't know them and I don't think they have been created yet, but please know that much love and caring are sent your way.

Stay strong, Mari. And please keep us posted on whatever develops until Bobby is back in your arms.

9. I am still pretty young ...
and I am curious to know what would happen to anyone who did not go when they were called upon to go ? Could any legal action be taken against your son and others ?

11. Yes, they would be court martialed.
Failure to obey an order to report to duty is a court martial offense, punishable under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).

17. I am a mother too
And I'm shedding tears for you. Truly. I just read your letter in Truthout and I started crying. I don't know what I'd do in your place. My sons are 19 and 21, and they told me that if they were ever drafted to fight an unjust war, they would leave for Canada or Europe, and to hell with the consequences. I told them that's what I'd want them to do.

I can't bear to even think about it.

19. (((HUGS)))
I don't know what to say Mari, except that I wish for the best for you and your son. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers, and send you all of the positive energy and karma your way. Please take care of yourself, both for your sake and your son's. You don't want him to come home to his mother whose has had a nervous breakdown.

Folks, this is just one more reason we need to stop this illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq. Let us redouble our efforts and bring Mari's son and the other sons and daughters home soon.

Bless and Keep Mari, we will all be here for you.
