Post-'news conference' discussion thread
The British reporter on CNN said it was total bollocks, that Tony dug himself in deeper, that they needed the nuclear angle to go to war. Pretty strong stuff.

What are the other presstitutes saying?

1. Did you notice what Bush said re. wmd's
"We will bring the weapons." Perhaps just a simple slip of the tongue...

2. Hell, yeah. Nice slip, Dr. Freud.
Although, if they 'find' weapons now, most of the world will doubt it.

3. Was there a press conference?
All I heard on NPR was the same "reconstituted" BULLSHIT! Now watch the Yankee press dogs lap it up like manna from heaven. Whores. There are no words to describe my deep disappointment in Tony Blair and in my loathing of the wasted piece of protoplasm who purports himself to be the President of the United States.

Yeah. That's why I put quotes around it.
It was a political commercial, pure and simple. Bush looked nervous and angry--squinting and stuttering. Plus, speaking next to Blair--who you have to admit, no matter how you feel about him, is a good speaker--made Bush look like a total freakin' cro-mag.

4. All nonsense
Blair is really working his "I truly, honestly, genuinely, sincerely, believe" line. Bunch of smoke and distraction vis-a-vis the twenty and twelve year-old intelligence. Some other misdirection about 300,000 missing and dead (since when? Hammurabi?). A Bunch of nonsense.

That four question rule is idiotic as well.

7. Question about the detainees
Bush started reciting from his talking points and had to stop himself...said he wouldn't try the defendents in the questioners newspaper.......

you could tell what he had memorized and what he had to improvise.......

otherwise, I agree...not a news conference but a ....well....coronation?

12. I suspect those are the fresh new talking points ....
that cheney just delivered to congressional republicans. Probably each repub that appears on a talk show will now have his/her personal copy of a pic of the poor Kurds that were gassed, to hold up to the tv cams.

14. This is going to be the big PR push they're banking on
Edited on Thu Jul-17-03 05:31 PM by manco
to get them out of this mess. If they can successfully spin this stuff today and tomorrow, the tide will go their way. If not, they're permanently screwed. Sad to say, but it all depends on the press.
