If George W Bush is not called to account for this domestic spying....?
...then what would we expect him to do next?

If he can arrogantly break the law, what restraints are left? And what would he be emboldened to do next? Would he crack down on domestic "sympathizers" of the terrorists? Who would stop him?

1. Bush's life, resrmbling that of a serial rapist or murderer,
shows a steady escalation as he managed to escape accountability. If he is allowed to slide on this, the next is worse. How the hell anyone in public view can even consider anything less than severe punishment is merely a measure of their own ethical decay.

4. The most important thing to those in congress is...
their recent pay raise that most of them voted for. :( In times of economic unrest and big-ass tax cuts, it speaks volumes.

2. If congress does not act..
Edited on Sun Dec-25-05 11:19 AM by C_U_L8R
and hold Bush accountable for breaking the law...
then they set precedent that Bush can make up
pretty much whatever law he damn pleases.

I expect naming himself "President for Life" will be at the top of his wish-list

3. It will be a black mark on our country, as a whole..
If we allow this to continue. And we need to make this a hallmark of the 2006 mid-term elections.

We need to know where members of Congress (or people running for Congress) stand on this issue, and do they think it is an impeachable offense.

I'm also angry b/c living in D.C., I do not have adequate representation in Congress. I only have one delegate (Eleanor Holmes Norton) who I can write to. And she has very limited powers on the hill (she can only vote "in committee.")

I have no Senator or no Representative who is looking out for my interests, who I could contact and say "I want Bush impeached over this."

5. Remember WWII? One step at a time.
And the masses do not recognize it or will not accept it. We're in deep do-do. This has to end with the current spying revelation. What next, breaking down your door because you read the wrong newspapers, go to the wrong web sites, go to a non-acceptable place of worship..or worse yet, do not worship in an organized way. One by one, our rights are sliding down a slippery slope. Its depressing. My poor grandchildren. What are they in for? Come on Dem's, we need a real visible answer to those in Washington who feel it is their right to take control of our lives. Cheers to Conyers, now how about a little noise from the rest. Not just words, we need our Reps and Senators to start SHOUTING!

6. The democrats in congress have many black and white issues
before them, this is one of the major ones.

He violated the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. There is NO ambiguity or excuse here, THE LAW WAS BROKEN WILLFULLY

If the Democrats do NOT pound this everyday, and force an investigation then the party stands for nothing

Murtha was able to get the media to pay attention, so the excuse that we are a minority party does NOT cut it

In addition, there should be no abiguity about Alito.

I am watching and waiting, and whether I support the DNC or not depends on the party's actions in the next few months

This is NOT rocket science, IT SHOULD NOT TAKE A LETTER CAMPAIGN TO TELL THE DEMOCRATS IN CONGRESS THAT THE LAW HAS BEEN BROKEN, AND THAT PEOPLE SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE

7. A Democratic Congress is what we need to obtain.
Bush will be investigated and impeached. Period.
