STUPIDEST soldier in the war for Chrsitmas yet
from a local LTTE:
"On one shopping trip, my husband and I wore signs attached to our clothing that read “Merry Christmas.” My husband went a step further and attached a big sign on his back that read “Walking Store Display, Merry Christmas, Call It By Its Name.” My husband figured since the majority of the stores would not advertise using the word Christmas; then, every time he would walk into a store, he would bring Christmas to it. These signs we wore prompted feedback from fellow shoppers who had also noticed the lack of Christmas everywhere. They didn't like it either. We even had employees of the stores thanking us for helping others see how ridiculous it was to eliminate Christmas at this time of the year."http://www.portsmouth-dailytimes.com/articles/2005/12/24/news/letters_to_the_editor/1letters_christmas.txt

2. Excellent nomination
Blind lemmings stirring up shit at the local level because they have been indoctrinated to do so. And why would one who wants to keep Christ in Christmas be spending her time at a retail outlet during this holiest of seasons? I'm just a wacky liberal trying to figure these motherfuckers out.

3. "how ridiculous it was to eliminate Christmas at this time of the year"
Are these people fucking serious? I can't go anywhere or do anything without hearing someone talking about it being Christmas. TV, Radio, The malls. Its fucking everywhere! :puke: And the saddest part is these fucking idiots don't even realise that what they celebrate is ABSOLUTLY NOTHING like the way Christmas is supposed to be celebrated!

For all you dumb fuck freepers trolling tonight...Christmas is not about buying every thing you lay your pigishly greedy eyes on! Its about helping those in need. And you're supposed to act like that year round! :eyes:

22. Kinky Friedman is running for governor of Texas
Edited on Sun Dec-25-05 10:52 AM by Neil Lisst
He used to have a song he did called THEY DON'T MAKE JEWS LIKE JESUS, ANY MORE.

Kinky had a band called KINKY FRIEDMAN AND HIS TEXAS JEW BOYS.

If you don't know about Kinky, he's an intelligent, Gonzo style comedian, musician, and author. He used to bill himself as the only Jewish Country Western singer. He's quite the entertainer, and truly one of a kind.

9. Fundie heads would explode where I am...
I'm on a long work assignment in Alexandria, Egypt.

This morning I went for a long walk around the city, which I just love to do on my days off. Even though it was pouring rain this morning with a cold, wicked (but bracing!) wind blowing right off the Mediterranean.

And what to my wondering eyes should appear...
But an Egyptian toy store, decorated with bunches of Santas and buttloads of reindeer!
There were signs saying "Merry Christmas" and "Joyeux Noel,"
Even though all good Neo-Cons know the French are headed for Hell...

Anyhow, the toy store with about 2000 Santas in the window was manned by 2 Muslim women. How do I know that? Because they were wearing the hijab, the head-covering.

They were great. Between my 5 Arabic phrases and their 5 English phrases, we had a nice chat.

In fact, brace yourselves...the Muslims I deal with in Egypt are a lot more tolerant than most American Xians, at least those of the Fundie stripe. Only one time has an Egyptian asked about my religion. Several other Egyptians immediately told him to STFU, that he shouldn't even ASK that question of a guest in their country. (I have no religion, and really didn't want to explain the theological definition of Grumpy Atheist. So I was grateful for the intervention.)

FYI: the Coptic Xians are a tiny minority in this country but their Xmas Day of Jan. 6 is an official government holiday. I don't ever see any whiny-ass editorials from Muslims bitching about this. I can't help comparing this to the "War On Xmas" propaganda in the U.S.A., which is supposedly being held hostage by a tiny minority of us atheists. With help from our fellow-travelers in the ACLU, of course.

11. They should go to a Hallmark!
I work at one and if you ever wanted evidence there is NO "war on Xmas" you can just go to Hallmark. I don't personally celebrate Xmas but when people say "Merry Christmas" I just say "Same to you" or "You too".
When they buy Hanukkah candles or ask about Menorahs I say "Happy Hanukkah" or "Have a good holiday". This last one works for everyone because it includes any holiday you might care to celebrate:)

No one is offended. In fact, today one nice (cute) boy told me I had "holiday spirit" because I gave him stickers for free! Yay! :)

12. Why does everybody want Christmas to be so "corporatized?"
Edited on Sat Dec-24-05 10:28 PM by high density
I hate Fox News, they're the ones responsible for this shit. My pastor tonight, who typically doesn't say stupid things like this, said "Today we say Merry Christmas, Not Happy Holidays!" It's so stupid.

13. Well, considering that it's Portsmouth...
.. the plethora of "stores" (pl) referred to can be pretty much whittled down to two: the old KMart and the giganto WalMart, which ran all the locally owned stores out of business (and is soon to be replaced by a WalMart Superstore). I'm sure that such preoccupation on whether the locals wish one another "Happy Holidays" or "Merry Christmas" will go a long way to deflect the cold hard Christmas to be celebrated by the 10% unemployed in the county, or those who can't shop because the county's median income is only 67% of the state average. Of course, if the folks in Portsmouth find that depressing, they can always pop in to one of their 130 churches and pray that the 35% of families in their county who live below the poverty level will have heat, food and warm clothing on Christmas Day.

Pwaise Jaysus!

18. Charity! Bite your tongue!
If these people contributed to charity they wouldn't be able to participate in as much rampant consumerism. If they volunteered their time to charity they wouldn't be able to spend as much time harassing their fellow neighbors for saying "Happy Holidays" rather than "Merry Christmas". Nor would they be able to participate in the all important meetings to determine what their next "war" will be on. :eyes:

25. Gee, way back in October....
popping up in stores everywhere...I was seeing
Christmas wreaths,
kissing balls,
greenery, glittery
trees,
light displays,
cards,
Santas,
reindeer,
elves,
toys,
housewares,
textiles,
candles,
gift cards,
gift suggestions
etc., etc.,
ad nauseum!

Do we really NEED to have the words "Merry Christmas" emblazoned on everything also????

I think everyone "gets" it....

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Christmas exploitation by businesses begins right after, and sometimes before, Halloween. These people are either total fools, or paid hacks for the RNC.
Either way, :puke:
