I'm Confused. Are there two Conyers?
One black and very outspoken and one white and very conservative?

1. Cornyn
John Cornyn is a Republican senator from Texas.

John Conyers is a Democratic Congressman from Michigan.

John Cornyn is a neo-fascist

John Conyers is a righteous dude.

Looks like a model Republican. But he was just spouting the party line - actually the Bush line. Because I don't think it is really the Pary Line any more.

14. not really
but he has lived there most of his life, been their governor and represents their state in DC. He has more of an Ivy league elitist background, of course. It's not like he's a conventional or stereotypical Texan by any means.

32. No, not even the boots. There are lots of cowboys in this state
and they do NOT walk like he does. He walks like a wanna-be Arnold Schwartzenegger, a body builder instead of a cowboy

16. Don't forget Tom DeLay. He's from Texas and he rocks
back and forth when he sits in court, almost peeing himself as he waits for the judge to say throw out the case against him. He's still waiting (and rocking).

I'm hurt, though. You never answered my question about whether there are two Bush daughters. I get so confused hearing about a Bush daughter graduating from Yale, then I hear that Bush's daughter lost her wallet and it was recovered in the possession of a cocaine dealer! :wow:

How could a nice girl who graduated from Yale leave her wallet with a cocaine dealer??

24. The OP is pretty new around here. She asks many questions
Edited on Sat Dec-24-05 01:55 PM by havocmom
Answering them and/or helping her to navigate resources on the web better is a good way to show the MANY OTHERS who just lurk in hopes of enlightenment. Not all newbies and lurkers are suspect. They are just newer to this effort to take back the nation.

Having read several of the OP's questions and remarks, I find no particular reason to judge her harshly. She might just be new at all this. Seems we could use more involvement and her questions probably echo those of others who read but don't post.

Should she prove to be less than honest in her participation, I will still have used her posts to help other readers find info and resources. Can't see any down side of that effort.

Not all citizens have yet achieved your level of understanding in political matters. Cutting some slack and helping them catch up is a win/win opportunity.

35. My point still stands, no matter what we see about one poster later on.
We still have the opportunity to teach others who read DU for info and are playing catch up in recent political history. Being rude to people who pose questions just reinforces the shit Rush, O'Rielly, Hannity, and the rest say about liberals being elitists snobs, does not help us restore the traditional DEM base back when we were the populist party, nor does it help more people learn. Gee, if some posters here are reinforcing all the RW pundit shit about us, what would be their motives.

See, the shoe can be pounded on ANY foot. Just seems more productive to use EVERY opportunity to get good info and teach where the resources are. We can keep our own list of suspects privately, and many of us do. But just jumping in with near accusations when someone asks a question is doing Rush's work for him... now why would someone do that? ;)

41. Okay, now I have to tell you a TRUE story
A certain male relative of mine had taken up with a woman who was, shall we say, very bad for him. I had stuck my nose in a time or two and had warned him that there could be some very bad consequences if he continued to have this person in his home. (She was an addict and stole things.) One day on the phone HE brought up the subject and I told him, "I'm not worrying about that any more... I've said enough, now it's up to you, and besides, karma will get that woman."

He said, "Who? Who's THAT?"

So, fast forward a year or so. Now I'm in the car with this same relative and his on-again-off-again girlfriend (a much saner and more decent sort... the addict/thief has been gone for some time now.) So he's finally seen the light about the addict/thief, and I said, "Yeah, but you know, you oughta read more... I remember that time when I told you karma would get her, and you didn't know what that was, and thought karma was a 'who'." So this time, his girlfriend pipes up and say, "Who? Who's karma?"

Being a tad more helpful and a bit lighter with the trigger finger goes a long way to disproving the talking point that we are a bunch of elitist snobs IMHO. We make more friends by trying honey first.

I don't mind people questioning me or my ideas. Sometimes the comments are hilarious. I'm not very sensitive to that sort of thing. Being a Democrat and all. Living in the middle of a whole bunch of Radical Republicans and in the middle of the Bible Belt. You learn to develop a think skin.

11. He crawled into the slimey bed of Abramoff also
Cornyn, not Conyers! So hopefully he and all the other Repugs who took bribes from the sleaziest lobbiest ever, (who is now talking to the Feds and not too happy that he went from being one of the Republicans very favorite lobbiest to 'Oh, I didn't know him very well at all') will soon be more worried about staying out of jail, than spreading propaganda on television. Cornyn was VERY connected to Abramoff.

One brunette and usually not in trouble, and one blond and usually in trouble for something like accidentally leaving her money-stuffed wallet with a coke dealer whom she happened by chance to be talking to in a bar?
