anybody have experience with Working Assets?
I've been needing to make a change to my cell phone service and am thinking to change to Working Assets--they seem to have a great suite of services. I happened to see their info when I was at their site signing a petition. Anybody have comments about their phone services or other aspects of the company? I like that they contribute to progressive causes but do want to make sure they are competitive with the service quality.

Anybody have thoughts/comments?

1. My sweetie has been using Working Assets for her home phone for years.
No problems to report about that; She's been very happy with them.
I'm afraid I don't know anything about their cellular service, though.

2. I've only had experience with their long distance and credit card
The LD service has been GREAT. Ever since I found out the credit card is an MBNA card, I won't touch the thing.

3. i've used them for years happily
the argument can be made, and often is, that you can save money by going with a different carrier and then donate more money to causes than they would get by your using WA. but the whole point, i believe, is to support those companies that are trying to be good corporate citizens.

their customer service is better than most, imo.

4. actually, they have a less expensive plan that was cheaper than
what I found at Costco --it had fewer minutes, but I never came anywhere close to using all the minutes. I always end up paying for way more service than I need.

thanks all for the info. I think I'm gonna try the cell service and consider the long distance in the future.

7. MBNA
Actually, all the credit card companies suck, so you're going to be dealing with one corporate raider or another if you have a credit card.

Unless someone here knows of a truly good credit card. I'd happily switch.

9. Check out the November 2005 issue of Consumer Reports
They list the top 10 most consumer-friendly cards. None are issued through MBNA, BTW.

6. I have their regular long distance
I love them. I get a discount on Cingular through my work, so I use them for cellular. Can't comment on Working Assets cellular.

Working Assets is frankly liberal, btw.

8. I have them for long distance service and have no complaints
They're actually less expensive than my previous carrier (AT&T) unless you count the charges for the citizen letters that I usually check off on every bill. I tried getting cell service from them but I couldn't because my location wasn't included in the network. Note that their cellular uses the Sprint network so you'll want to check on whether that network is a good choice for your location.

10. They were great when I had a land line.
Now I'm all cellular, though. They give you free Ben & Jerry's coupons...

11. We've been with them from the beginning...in the late 80's early 90's
Other than a few too many piece of junk mail (for our taste, but far below the average) we have been very happy with them.

Good luck.
