Several HUNDRED THOUSAND Iraqis Disagree With Those "Successful" Elections
<snip>

Several hundred thousand people demonstrated after noon prayers in southern Baghdad Friday, many carrying banners decrying last week’s elections. Many Iraqis outside the religious Shiite coalition allege that the elections were unfair to smaller Sunni Arab and secular Shiite groups.

Iraqis demonstrate outside the Omar al-Mukhtar mosque in western Baghdad calling for the cancellation of the results of the December 15 elections and the holding new contests.

ZIP on my TV about this... :eyes:

1. We might as well just rename Iraq
"New Ohio". . .that way, the Administration can honor the patriotic "work" of Ohio election officials who magically lost votes in the premier christo-fascist state of America.

How do Republicans get more than 1% of the votes?

28. Spread out, in one line! Don't bunch together! That way,
it will look like there are more of us...

Our meetups, in Red State Kansas, are bigger than that! And we just get together to bitch, eat, and drink!

BTW, if there are fewer than 15 of you, is it really necessary to address the others from a podium???

Is that a sign of their ego, an attempt to make it look like a bigger and more grand rally than it is, or some combination of the two?

Gee you think these losers are going to stand up against the Shrub for illegally stealing their freedoms and violating the Constitution?.. I also love the 1970's era portable podium with external speaker(lower left with the coffee cup on it) Gotta have a "P.A. System" to talk to 5 people :eyes: Wonder how many porta potties they had?

On the CBS Evening News, they showed him "bucking up" the troops. He walks in, looks around, and exclaims "Look at you all!" Was he surprised they were all there? Is he starting to get Alzheimer's symptoms? It was really bizarre.

Edited on Fri Dec-23-05 11:22 AM by Roland99
Well, one of the articles I read did, anyway.

From the Yahoo article:

Sunni Arab and secular Shiite factions demanded Thursday that an international body review election fraud complaints, and threatened to boycott the new legislature

21. I just read that too
my mistake. Damn the Shiites are there as well! You know I knew Iraq would be a big fucking mess but never did I think this big. There is going to be a big blow up once the election is official. I envision something like this in 2006...

12. not so sure about this election question in Iraq
I'm not so sure how this really plays out. I believe I read on Josh Marshall's site that the Sunni's believe themselves to be a larger constituency in the country than they actually are. Being in the minority and losing so convincingly to the larger majority, when they are used to being the controling power, is hard for them to handle. For the Bush administration, it would probably be a benefit to have a lesser victory for the religious parties that did appear to win, who are closer to Iran and will probably make things difficult for the U.S. in Iraq, so they might want to encourage protest against the apparent outcome of this election. I don't know whether to believe these demos are a good thing or a bad thing. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

14. Sigh.... Every Other Nation But Ours Can Organize Passionately.
By the end of the first week of november 04 we shoulda had crowds just like that. Any time an election is in dispute in another country the citizens take right to the streets! Someday I hope americans wake up enough to be that passionate as well with our democracy.

Oh... hundreds of thousands of them, and A.N.S.W.E.R. didn't have to organize any of it.
