Hagel unloads on Cheney and Bush

It's a thing of beauty:

"Every president, that we know of, has complied with the law (FISA)," Hagel said. "No president is above the law. We are a nation of laws and no president, majority leader, or chief justice of the Supreme Court can unilaterally or arbitrarily avoid a law or dismiss a law. If the vice president holds a different point of view, then he holds a different point of view."

Based on the facts that are out there concerning whether domestic spying abuses were taking place, Hagel said, there was a "breakdown."

"I take an oath of office to the Constitution," he said. "I don't take an oath of office to the vice president, a president or a political party. My obligation and responsibility are to the people I represent and the country I serve. I do what I think is right for the people I represent and the country I serve." <...>

1. Hagel is toying with running for president in '08
and I've said it before if he does and is nominated he would be very difficult to defeat--even more so, I think, than McCain.

3. Plus, he owns the ESS voting system (or has a stake in it)
making it even HARDER to ensure a fair contest if he's the nominee.

4. You may well be correct that he'd be tough to beat
He apparantly already knows all about the use of voting machines to "win" elections.

6. I Prefer Hagel Over McCain
McCain showed his stripes with the * hug. Screw McCain.

At least Hagel has been consistent in his opposition to the Boy King's empire, along with Ron Paul from Texas.

Gotta give credit where credit is due.

8. I agree and Hagel certainly has more principles. Would you stand
beside a man that did the things Bush did to McCain and his family as well in the campaign.

How could you if not for yourself stand next to a man that said the things he did about you and your family.

I lost all respect for McCain.

11. McCain Thinks...
...that all this sucking up will "anoint" him in 2008 with the party's nomination. Boy is he in for a rude surprise.

These are the Bushies and the Fundies he is courting. Totalitarians don't repay favors.

They crucify you...

5. Sounds good Mr. Hagel,
Now will you follow through and demand investigations about the wrong doing of this president?

7. Republicans have to confirm and publicly announce
what Democrats expect, demand, and assume of each other.
This is what is known as having values. And as Democrats they come natural, for republicans it's HARD WORK.
