Did Bush ask for more money last night?
i missed the speech, i had to drive to San Francisco and pick my husband up at the airport and i'm guessing the drive in the awful rain storm was still better then seeing him speak last night. So at the end did he slip in the standard "in the coming weeks i'll be asking congress for a gazillion more dollars for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan"

1. He wasn't that specific, but he did name that as the part for Congress
to play.

3. Didn't have to, defense spending bill was already in Congress
They're looking for another 100 billion dollars to fund this insane, immoral, illegal war. Meanwhile, with our national debt at aprox. eight trillion, interest payments alone are costing us fifteen percent of our GDP each and every year. That isn't paying down the principle, just the interest payments.

The debt has got to go, it is going to send us into a depression that will make the Great Depression look like boom times. This is what sent the USSR spinning into oblivion, overextension of debt to military adventures abroad. You think that people would learn from history but:shrug:

I've got only one piece of outstanding debt personally and that is my mortage. Going to pay that off ASAP, because when the shit hits the fan, I want to be able to hold on to my land. Too many banks are going to be calling in those mortages, and a lot of people are going to get screwed because of that.
