Who's listening to CSPAN callers?
:kookoo: :silly:

Turn to CSPAN and listen to the Republicans' defense of Bush.

Simply amazing. Like I said in another thread, what's scary isn't that Bush is spying on Americans, it's that Americans don't care that Bush is spying on Americans.

3. Aren't they?!
How can they even begin to defend him? Listen to this one now.

Ah, now it's about Clinton...he was "an immoral idiot."

Christ on a crutch. I'm getting too worked up about this. I think I'm going to have to disconnect from politics over the holidays.

8. Yes, I think it's something along those lines.
They pay journalists to write op/ed pieces a certain way. It would be even easier to pay a few shills to make calls to CSPAN.

Does anyone know what Rove's voice sounds like? Maybe one of the callers was him ~ lol

10. Exactly. they always think they are safe because they are "doing nothing
wrong". But what they do not get is that a government that will spy on its own people will also change the rules of what is right and wrong, and they will do it in secret so that you never know why you got scooped up in a black van with tinted windows, never to be heard from again.

Yeah, and he kept saying "surveying" instead of "surveilling."

Fucking idiots ought not have the right to vote.

14. They are comparing this to WWII....
But WWII was a legally declared war... Everyone understood what was going on... The whole population and economy was mobilized... Everyone shared in the effort...

The so called war on terrorism is a war in the Bush parallel universe only... No declaration... No shared sacrifice... only those who can least afford it are asked to sacrifice...

And there is no clear objective...

Throwing the word war around gets a lot of people thinking that we are actually in a state of war...

We are not...

I really think these people who are still supporting Bush are incapable of questioning the leadership of their party because they would have to question the whole foundation of their belief system... A tall order indeed...

21. You can't make a judgement based on cspan callers.
BEcause Cspan takes one call from a Pub and one from a Dem, it's impossible to tell what the real feeling out there really are.

I say watch what happens to Shrub's poll #'s in a week or two. I wouldn't be surprised to see a slight bump in the next day or so, but I don't think it will last.

25. Forget the polls
They're meaningless and useless.

All that matters is what the Democrats in Congress do when they come back from their recess. Given their recent limpdick history, I fear they'll continue to do nothing, and this Fuckface In The Oval Office will give a whole new dimension to "Teflon President," one that even Ronald Reagan, when he was still sentient - about 1975, or so - would have envied.

Frankly, I think we're doomed.

26. Comeon Lefty, you can't just give up!
We've got a lot of things on our side. Fitz isn't quiting, the Abramoff mess is getting messier every day, and DeLay is being an idiot and losing with the Tx. judge.

And those are the things we already KNOW about!!!!

I'm not ready to give up, and I don't wnat you or anyone else to give up either!

28. Oh, I'm not giving up
I'm just looking at the stark reality of our government. The media is a waste, populated by airheads and stenographers, and the Congress is emasculated and frozen in fear and confusion.

I've always had faith in the legal system - naturally - going back to watching the Watergate hearings between classes during my first year of law school.

But, the legal process is slow, very, very slow, and the things that are happening to our country need to be redressed promptly. That means something like the hearings chaired by the estimable Sam Ervin back in 1973.

Alas, the House and Senate were then populated by men and (a few) women of integrity and intelligence. That's no longer the case, and, that, my friend, is why I truly do believe we are doomed.

And the kids in Iraq will keep dying while the Halliburtons keep pulling in the profits, accountable to no one but themseves, as our infrastructure continues to fall apart. The oil companies get fatter, and the people get poorer.

This is stuff from which our country will not recover - not in my lifetime, not in yours.

But, we have to try to believe, don't we?

24. CSPAN is a Freep-abler.
They're the ones that give a giant amount of time to these oxygen-thieves and almost zilch to the thinkers. And the freeps they get are usually the most plant-stand-IQ'd asstangles shoveled from someone's compost heap they could find.

These pigs are fucking insufferable. This is the worst case of absolutely NEVER admitting you're WRONG.

of Article II that they are referencing and asked what specific part of the bills congress passed is Gonzales referring to. Oh and I reminded folks that 911 had nothing to do w/ Iraq ;)
