Help me out, exactly what law was broken?
I know that the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act was broken, but can someone please point me to exactly which part was broken? I am not a lawyer and I honestly can not understand anything at the following link:

1. Just a lil thing called the fourth amendment to the constitution...
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

See that bit about unreasonable searches and probable cause? That bit.

2. 100% right
As Benjamin Franklin said, "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."

5. I think that the 4th Amendment trumps ALL OTHER LAWS AFTER IT.

6. The Constitution is pretty plain on due process as well but.....

Apparently by Presidential decree Bush* can accuse any person at any time of anything and lock them up without a speedy trial or access to an attorney or even being charged with a crime or able to confront their accuser. This is far more troubling than a few wiretaps..IMO... Bush* swore an oath to uphold the Constitution and he is doing the opposite.

7. I understand that part but...
The law democrats, and some republicans with a brain (if that isn't an oxymoron) in congress cite the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act as being broken. I need to know for another debate which part of that law was actually broken. If you could quote it I'd appreciate it.

3. I hear a provision says, law applies even during war
even during declared war, to boot.
