Poll question: Was There a Grand Conspiracy to Undermined Clinton
We know they used quite a bit of tax payer's money to find whatever junk they could on Bill, Hillary or anybody linked to them for 8 years. So what think you... and are these Neo-Cons connected to the undermining of the Clintons?

Please share any sources to back up your claim, if you have the time...

1. Hillary's paranoia was based in fact.

Impeaching the President for a blowjob? No..That's not a totally bogus bullshit plot. Especially when compared with a President who lied to the people of country at every opportunity, lied us into a completely unjustified war at the cost of tens of thousands of lives, costing billions of dollars, and bankrupting the government, is undermining the Constitution at every opportunity, putting cronies in every job he can, and probably was involved in the only major terrorist attack on the mainland of the United States!!!

25. Another "must read" book for Democrats, and hopefully all Americans
David Brock was a drone in the right-wing "Journalism" industry.
David authored "The Real Anita Hill" that was for a short time, the bible for right wingers who wanted to attack Democrats on the issue of Justice Pubic Hair's confirmation hearings.
One day, David decided to be a real human being, instead of a Republican assh*ole, and he wrote his "coming out" book, as Democrat, Blinded by the Right. EXCELLENT BOOK. I highly recommend it to all DUers.

to believe that either. they were obviously grasping at anything that would stick to get him and anybody who couldn't see that had to be in some SERIOUS denial.

That's why we have to get all of this out there one way or the other. The only hope the Right Wing has at this point is if we all just go away. Judgment Day is coming fast for them.

I can't believe any reasonable person, no matter what their opinion of the Clintons, could deny the "Right" was out to get them no matter what it took.

The right-wing slander industry in this country is probably bigger than the GNP of 90% of the world's nations.

9. Absolutely, withou a shadow of a doubt....and here's some proof
This passage comes from "Anatomy of a Scandal: An Investigation Into the Campaign to Undermine The Clinton Presidency" by James D. Retter. On Page 120, he starts talking about "The Wednesday Group."

"Every Wednesday since Bill Clinton's election, 20 to 30 leaders of national right-wing organizations- from taxpayer and term-limits organizations tot he National Riffle Association and the Christian Coalition- have gathered for an hour and a half, over coffee and bagels, in the second-floor Washington, D.C., office of Americans for Tax Reform (ATR). It's a tight group that unites editors, writers, and talk-show hosts with conservative activists. The convener is Grover Norquist, a Harvard graduate and protege of Lee Atwater's. Norquist was inspired to form the Wednesday Group for one reason: To stop Bill Clinton."

12. Not the neo's
I doubt the neo's had much trouble with Clinton at all, except maybe he didn't buy into their "pax Americana" crap as willingly as they'd like.

I think the "conspiracy" was just an unforeseeable linking up between people who hated the CLintons, people who hate the democratic party, anti-abortionists and fundamentalist Christians.

By which I mean a conspiracy of convenience may have evolved but I doubt anyone planned it out in advance, least of all the neo-cons.

20. Clinton wouldn't invade Iraq
Edited on Sun Dec-18-05 03:13 PM by Hippo_Tron
And if you dig up some of the memos drafted by PNAC in about 1998, you can bet that they tried to get him to do it. They even sent one to Newt Gingrich and Trent Lott that asked them to try and pressure the President into it.

Don't get me wrong, I hardly think that Clinton was a model for a democratic president, but at least he was smart enough to know that the neocons are batshit crazy.

17. Right!! Here's what I truly think happened
I think that after 12 years of Reagan and Bush, the Republicans began to feel a sense of entitlement to the White House.

I think they were content to let the Democrats keep control of Congress, as long as they had the White House.

And in 1992, here comes this little-know country governor named Bill Clinton. And he wasn't your "traditional" Democrat.

He was advocating for a "third way" in politics...and basically carrying the message that no one had all the answers. You take the best ideas from both parties.

And guess what?! He won!!

And they never forgave him for winning.

18. Is the sky blue?
I don't think this even falls under the category of conspiracy. The Republicans got together and used the power of the government institutions that they controlled to take down their political enemy. This is nothing new.

22. Wash Post came out with this little tidbit that screams yes yes yes
people should be made aware that (according to a Washington Post article published 12/18/05) from the years 1997 to 2002, the Republican-controlled House Government Reform Committee issued 1,052 subpoenas to probe alleged misconduct by the Clinton administration and Democrats, but in the years since Bush has been president, they have issued three.

23. Clinton was an aberration,
Edited on Sun Dec-18-05 05:26 PM by Blue_In_AK
a temporary derailment of the religious fundamentalist and neocon imperialistic plans that had been in place for 20 years at least and probably twice that long. He and any successor to him (Al Gore) had to be stopped. They did everything they could to tie Clinton's hands, and then made sure that Al Gore was "defeated" in 2000. These people are so un-American and so guilty.

26. Yes and we know why.
All this crap we're going through now would have happened 13 years ago. Clinton halted their plans for a while by having the audacity to become President and thus the never ending harassment and undermining.

30. Yes - Brock's "Blinded by the Right" and Blumenthal's "The Clinton Years"
Edited on Mon Dec-19-05 09:41 PM by Monkey see Monkey Do
cover this pretty well. Adam Curtis' BBC documentary "The Power of Nightmares" (which is getting a revised repeat in January), makes the point that without the Soviet Union to scare Americans with, the neo-cons turned on Clinton in a variety of ways.

edit to mention "The Hunting of the President" is also very good on this.
