Our current system of government has slowly been stacked with rules and regulations to allow interests with money to steer our government and we, as the lemmings we are, seem to be happy to drink the wine as they continue to beat and rape us all.

intended to paint politicians as people selling favors.

And to your suggestion of replacing the metaphor with either "pimp" or a derivative of pimp, I feel that it would be the wrong choice of words for my intention.

The OP was meant to denote that our politicians were selling out to big business and other concerns (read: MONEY). Pimp or John would have meant they were the ones with the product for sale.
