Signed Letter, Received $147,000 From Tribes. Senator Trent Lott the former Senate GOP leader, wrote Norton on March 1, 2002, to "seriously urge" she reject the Jena casino. Lott received $147,000 from Abramoff, his lobbying partners, and tribal clients between 2001 and 2004, including $65,000 during the period in which the letter was sent.
