1. Set up webservers to automatically encrypt any and every post,
transaction and email. Suddenly as if by magic, their screens will turn white as the new fallen snow.

2. I see you don't understand encryption
but if you want to talk to yourself, a blog is a good idea

7. I get ya.... you have to make it legible somewhere..... but you know
what I mean... imagine if every piece of spam were encrypted. Imagine that they didn't know it was spam, and spent billions of computer hours trying to decipher them.... now imagine they were encrypted gibberish spam... the message would be that there is no message. That should hamstring their resources enough to let it alone.

10. Nope
I would bet a pinki there is no public cryptographic tool that can not be broken by the NSA in under an hour. I would bet that encrypting your data and sending it over a public media would only draw attention.

PK cryptography is nice to keep out snoopers but can not withstand a professional assault.

11. If the net was "snowing" encrypted messages such as Hey, sorry
to hear about your fish" to elaborately designed gibberish they would be overwhelmed. It could be done, but it probably wouldn't be a smart move. I think we could try it to see if they throw a hissy fit.

13. Not feasible.
From my understating information is collected, queued by importance, than decrypted and analyzed.

This is where this story gets silly. This is probably mostly cell traffic and some email.

Someone has to actually read the output from a machine. large number of people would be required to do mass eavesdropping. Everything has a capacity limit.

The government has always had control of internet routers, telecom backbones, and cell systems.

The NSA has no interest in my phone calls to work or any other call. If they pop my cell on a warranted tap (which could happen) they would get nothing.

There is a system used to determine who and how important that should determine what is actually transcribed.

4. Put Bill Clinton in charge ...
... that's also the answer to other questions, to whit:

How do we get the economy back on track?

How do we re-establish America as a democracy, and win back the respect of the world?

How do we get our soldiers out of Iraq while minimizing the damage we've alredy done there?

How do we restore dignity and honesty to the office of the Presidency?

The list is truly endless ...

5. The point is/was, the media and GOP would be all over Clinton
spying on Americans so fucking fast, the NSA would be shut down and bulldozed faster than a GM plant.

6. just tell the NSA staffers to revert to the standard policy
of not wiretapping Americans without a court order. I'll bet there were some real unhappy campers at the agency who understood what they were doing and are afraid of being hung out to dry by the politicos.
The agency had a policy of deleting conversations of US citizens that they inadvertently overheard abroad so that these conversations never made it into upstream processes. The Bush administration told the agency to stop doing this. The agency never used its powers on domestic telephones. That was left to the FBI. It only took a phone call to a judge to activate a wiretap in an emergency. Judges do have cell phones.

8. I get IT! the freepers will be pissing all over themselves if they
thought a DEMOCRAT and ESPECIALLY Bill or Hillary were behind the illegal spying! Frist would be demanding an IMMEDIATE STOP to all this spying business and Hastert and DeLay would be convening oversight commitees faster than a Shaivo second! You are CORRECT!

12. Or cut the NSA budget by 100%
Unpaid spies seldomly work off the clock, especially when they know they're being hung out.

14. NSA is Military
The NSA is a military institution and is critical to the US. It just takes orders.
