Anyone know what's happening on the Senate floor right now?
They're running through a bunch of inconsequential resolutions, and Frist has the floor. Is this a strategy of some kind? I just turned on C-SPAN 2 and I have no idea what's going on.

1. Probably one of those 'make a speech on the floor for the folks at home'
exercises. Usually playing to an empty chamber, but they can put it in constituent newsletters and be so convincing that they are representing you and your pet causes.

Saw that going on earlier this evening. Don't have C-SPAN on now so can't say for sure that is what they are still doing.

6. We know they like to have votes in the wee hours....
prolly gonna call a vote when he thinks the DEMS have all blown town.

Let us hope they all watched that lovely episode of West Wing when Smitts' character hides everyone and then parades them, en mass, when the GOP weasel calls the vote on a controversal bill

Yea right, I'm supposed to believe that with a name like havocmom? :) Just giving you a hard time, let me guess your daughters name is havoc-daughter? I still gotta get my nephew to join this site. He has a lot to say, thanks to his uncle, your's truly.:hi: His dad is a freaking Repub believe it or not. But my neph is left wing thru and thru, my niece too. Ha! Take that to your grave reagan-economics! :)

14. No, the wayward daughter has a handle all her own
and it suits her well. I do refer to her as Havocpup, but she has a different screen name and it doesn't even have anything to do with explosives or anything.

Important work to make sure nieces and nephews grow up knowing the score! Sounds like you did good.

15. Well this is a good place for your wayward daughter to hang out.
And learn, participate, and share some experiences of life that are meaningful, do you not agree? That's why I need to get my neph more involved here and there. But for his age he's doing okay for himself. Good to hear your daughters name doesn't have anything to do with explosives or anything like that. :wow:

16. Well, Ka-BOOM Girl was taken
She is reaching a point in her life where she can be as good a teacher as student. Too often, some of the people here annoy her with their density.

17. Well there are other websites with more civil discussions .....
here and there .... but I like the fire of DU. Just the way I was brought up myself I guess. :) I remember last election night (2004) knowing something 'fishy' had just taken place. And the only website I could find with people ready to march on the capitol was here at the DU. :) ..... anyway hope your daughter continues in her quest for enlightenment and she shines upon all those she comes in contact with through life. Her mom has done a marvelous job too, I can tell. Thank you for the discussion and look forward to many more with you havocmom, always a friend, Mar/aka doublethink/uncle M/Boo or whatever else ..... :hi:

10. Yeah, that is the sort of 'busy work' speeches we have been seeing.
But when you consider that the Holiday Recess is due, seems odd they are hanging around town, I gotta admit that.

Welcome to DU, queenbdem87! Good to have you here with us. :hi:
