W on PBS: We never considered casualty figures, US or Iraqi
Incredible. It's clear from Bush's interview with Jim Lehrer that there was no discussion of possible casualties prior to the Iraqi war. No projections. Not a priority. Tax cuts for the wealthy, now there's a priority. Using 9/11 as the trigger for the neocon dream, there was a priority. This administration is sheer madness.

1. They obviously still don't. They don't feel the
blood dripping down their arms, the blood of possibly hundreds of thousands of innocent people. It's maddening, heartbreaking, and breathtaking all at once. How can so many people have no conscience?

4. And has anyone else noticed ...
... that since Bush used the 30,000 Iraqi casualties number a few days ago (30,000), it is now being accepted as an 'official number'?

Wasn't the death toll calculated by The Lancet over 100,000 -- over a year ago? Did 70,000 dead Iraqis rise from the grave recently?

Just wonderin' ...

6. Yep, the blivet said it and every major news story repeated it.
I honestly think the majority of journalists are too damned lazy to do some checking of their own. It's either that or their handlers don't want the true numbers to surface.

7. And we have 3 more years of this maniac. He has
committed more than enough impeachable offenses, but no one will own up to it and ask him to resign. He has become a dictator. Maybe another country will go after him the way he did Hussein. We can't take more of his arrogance and lies. Yes, the corporate media have turned tail and let him get by with anything. The NYT should be ashamed for keeping the story about the illegal intrusion into American lives unpublished for a year. The WH asked them to hold it, not for any security reasons, but because it was election time.

2. He's stonewalling Lehrer and so far he's mentioned 9/11 only 3 times

I listen to Bush and he's so hard to follow. He has a strange way of talking. Oh for the days of Clinton when we had someone who could talk.

8. Pat Robertson revealed last year that Bush didn't expect any casualties
Pat Robertson claims that he discussed his concern about the casualties that would occur by invading Iraq in a private meeting right before the invasion but Bush stated there would not be any casualties. Although Robertson can be unreliably kooky, I lean towards believing his allegation about Bush being in denial over potential casualties.

Of all the times I have watched and listened to Bush, I have never seen any sign of true concern, remorse or sadness over the death and suffering he has caused by invading Iraq. The man is a sociopath.

10. Very good point. I had forgotten about that.
It's just too right to not be true. I just don't understand how these wealthy and powerful people can be so devoid of basic human decency.
To quote another Scrooge this festive time of year, "If they are going to die, they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."
