10. my vote is for KATRINA for "disaster of the year"
they don't always pick humans, e.g., one year they picked the computer.

katrina was a watershed (terrible pun, and in poor taste, sorry on both counts) event on many levels, including a political and media coverage turning point for shrub for the worse.

11. TIME might consider Bob Herbert, Frank Rich and
Seymour Hersh.

While most of the rest of the media are caving in all over the place, these three shone like the sun this year on calling the Bush administration to accountability.

12. Bush was a good candidate for Person of the Year in 2003.
After all, the award is based on who has most influenced the world. Bush definitely did alot of that in 2003, but since he got his way on the invasion, his only notable "influence" has been that of incompetence.

Yes, he had a huge impact on the Katrina disaster, but only because he did *nothing*. That's hardly noteworthy.

Don't know about "person of the year". I'm sure he could force time to give it to him.

14. He had to go through the Katrina disaster?!!!
Was he on in an attic or on a roof hoping to be rescued before he died of thirst? Was he stuck in the fetid darkness of the superdome? I am so sick of these so-called journalists that act as if something bad has happened to him because we all got to see what an immoral incompetent administration this is and some of us actually *gasp* criticized him. Assholes.

Wasn't he just their PoY last year....you know for "winning the election"as is the usual.

He now is getting awards for not doing anything during a natural disaster??? Oh well I guess that is a step up from getting credit for 9/11.

If it's not, then Time continues to be irrelevant, and continues to suck on the teat of the Whiny-Ass Titty Babies in the White House. :-)

23. It's not an honor
Many people think being named person of the year is an honor even though people like Hitler have been people of the year. The controversy when they named Ayatollah Khomeini person of the year scared them away from naming Osama in 2001 even though he was the biggest news maker. That's the qualification to be named person of the year.
