listening to Malloy from last night, he is pissing me off
He is telling people not to donate to the DNC. Because of a few Dinos, we should boycott the entire party?? Does he not have a fucking clue that there is no other way to stop Republicans???

Whats the matter with him!!! He keep citing Hillary Clinton, but then says dont donate to the DNC. When you do not donate to the DNC, then you are undercutting the John Conyers and Paul Hacketts of the world.

:grr:

1. I presume you can donate directly to John Conyers...
Edited on Thu Dec-15-05 12:18 PM by mike_c
...and not have to support Hillary and Lieberman et al.

2. . . .also undercutting the Howard Deans. . .and his "50-State strategy"
Under Dean, we will no longer write off ANY state or race as lost before the campaign.

3. I like Malloy.
But I don't agree with everything he says. Plus it's not like he has a huge following and the ones that do listen to him (like myself), don't have that dittohead mentality like the Rush fans. :)

4. I only donate to people who don't stab us in the back

So my money goes directly to people like John Conyers and Kucinich not Hillary and Joementum.

5. Mikes point was to donate to individuals.
And not support the Joementums of the party.

Although I totally think he's off-base about trusting Capital Hill Blue. I am disappointed that he can not see that site for what it is...

8. I donate directly to candidates now.
After seeing what Terry McAuliffe did in 2004, the DNC doesn't get ONE RED CENT of my $$$$. IF Howard Dean proves to be a better DNC leader, I may reconsider...just for him.

Terry is gone. Not there. Why would his performance determine what you do now?

14. Same organization? Just a different leader.
As I stated...IF Howard proves to be a different DNC leader, I will reconsider. If he starts favoring one Primary candidate over another, he won't get my money. Sorry. What's the difference anyway? If I give $100 to Hackett or if I give $100 to the DNC? I think the money is put to better use by the candidates themselves. They know what they need.

22. because how do you know about every Hackett out there?
Howard is building an organization in all 50 states. How do you know that there isnt some great candidates coming out of red Alabama? Well they would need DNC money and the organization that Howard is building in Alabama to have a chance.

You know about Hackett because it was a special election. How do you know about every candidate in 2006 when there are over 400 seats up??? You couldnt know. But you are probably withholding money from some excellent candidates.

26. If Howard Dean says there's some FABULOUS Alabama Dem candidate
that he wants to support, I will donate DIRECTLY to Mr./Ms. Alabama candidate. I donated to the Dem opposing Delay, I donated to the Dem in Alaska, Tony Knowles (who lost :(), I donated to MANY candidates who were running and needed help.....whoever Wes Clark asked me to support, I did. I've also donated to Bryan Kennedy in WI who's running against Sensenbrenner. If Howard says a candidate needs help, I'll give what I can....to the candidate.

9. Mike is mad....
He, like me, sees our country being destroyed right in front of us. And his children and all of our children have to live in this country.

The Republicans are in horrific lockstep to destroy our country.

The majority of Democrats in office (save about a dozen) are not doing ANYTHING to address the destruction of America. If you have a "D" by your name, you have or are required to have our fundamental basic beliefs. And when a topic or bill, such as the obvious destruction of our Bill of Rights (Patriot Act), they should and must yell and scream every fucking day and fight these bastards and vote in lo9ckstep to defeat the bill.

Most Dems are spineless. Yes, I personally feel they are part of the cabal.

What I recommend is donate to individuals - the real Dems - just like we or at least most of us, are real Dems.

13. Donate to causes, not politicians.
Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, ACLU, Oxfam, are a few that we donate to. The money is actually spent doing something useful, rather than financing the very people who screw things up.

27. the Bush crime family is many levels below dirty politicians
You can make the case that all politicians are dirty. But this country has never had the level of corruption that we now have. A win in the Congress and now Bush no longer has his blank check.

15. Malloy gets like that sometimes.
I find Malloy to be very entertaining in modest doses, but I wouldn't base my diet on his rhetoric.

He pissed me off when he was wailing away on Kerry early this year, to the point where he was apologizing for ever having supported Kerry.

but he's got three hours to fill; I don't.

16. One thing to remember about Malloy. He's no "Yes Man".
He's not going to be our Limbaugh, where he bashes neo-cons, but then kisses democrat ass until his face is shitty.

That is one thing I love about him. He'll tell you if a democrat is fucking up. When does anyone from their side do that?

19. Me too
I like that. And I like to know what's going on too if it's not reported on DU. Plus, that's one thing I love about the democratic party is we have so many people in the party. I don't just vote for someone because they have a (d) behind their name. I look at their records if they have one to back up.

20. Exactly..
.... nothing talks like cash, and we have the most corrupt government money can buy.

The only way to fight this is to send positive reinforcement when good things happen. I've done it and will continue to.

A letter is great - but a letter with a donation, no matter how small, makes a much larger impact.

21. I told the DNC to stop calling me.
Last year I donated thousands of $ total to Howard Dean, and later John Kerry, plus Senate and Congressional candidates.

I don't like the way the DCCC targets specific races. I don't like how they discourage progressive candidates from running (PA senate race for example). I don't like the way they treated Paul Hackett, by recruiting Sherrod Brown to run (And if I still lived in Ohio, I'd probably vote for Brown in the primary). I just saw the DCCC dump a candidate they recruited, in favor of another.

I'll donate money to the specific candidates that I like in the primaries, and to SOME of our candidates in the general.

Edited on Thu Dec-15-05 01:31 PM by zulchzulu
I certainly enjoy his tirades, but when he goes off into not supporting the Democratic Party and assumes we should all follow his awful advice, I turn him off pronto. It's way too simplistic to just not contribute to the DNC because 1/300th of the Big Tent doesn't pass the Purity Test...
