What If George Bush Were a Black Man?

George meets Pookie, his alter ego. This satirical book is a shocking exploration of the presidency, society, and vast American hypocrisy.

(PRWEB via PR Web Direct) September 7, 2005 -- A New York professor is causing significant controversy with his newest book, "What if George Bush Were a Black Man?" (ISBN: 0-9742632-2-2).
PRWeb Press Release Newswire v9

"If George Bush were a black man, we probably would not respect him," says Syracuse University’s first black finance professor, Dr. Boyce Watkins.

Dr. Watkins’ 207 page satirical masterpiece takes an unflinching look into President George Bush’s background, touching on: substance abuse, insider trading allegations with Harken Energy, wedding gifts from Laura Bush’s family, the Vietnam war and poor grammar.

The book is quick to question whether the country would have been as forgiving if George Bush had been born black in South Central Los Angeles.

"Would he be a rich kid with an endowment, or would we just call him a welfare recipient?" asks Watkins, who is the first black finance professor at Syracuse University and the founder of the Black Financial Economists Association.

Dr. Watkins asserts Bush’s life would be much different if his skin was black or his parents were impoverished. Statistics from many government agencies back up Watkins’ theory that the current president is the perfect example of the socio-economic problems America faces today.

"Only 56 % of African American students graduate high school with a traditional diploma. They’re incarcerated for drug charges at more than 8 times the rate of whites, and 25% of the causalities in Vietnam were black," says Dr. Watkins, who uses these numbers to draw the conclusion that a black version of the President would have served time for drug charges and been forced to show up and fight in Vietnam.

"Plus, his momma probably would have smacked him every time he used the word mis-underestimated in public."

3. If * was black?
Well, he wouldn't have evaded Vietnam. He would never have had the opportunities afforded him by being a rich brat. And having lied to us about damn near everything? He wouldn't be in the White House. He'd be in the big house.

6. As a black man, bush would not have his father's friends to bail him out.
I may be wrong, but IMHO the black culture doesn't go for that crap, watching someone fail over and over due to arrogance and incompetence, yet continually bailing him out of a mess he created by his own shortcomings.

7. Bush demonstrates how mediocre white men of privilege fail upwards in
America. A black man can never fail upward.

Even priviliged white criminals fail upward as they often come back to sell books and get radio shows and tv shows and become celebrities.

Lots of americans still believe their privileges are earned.

10. I gotta read that book, I love this quote:
He looks confused, all the time, like a man who really can’t figure out if the value meal is cheaper than getting the burger, fries and drink individually.

15. If bush's parents were impoverished, it wouldn't much matter
if he was black or white. Without his daddy, best he could have hoped for is working as a bag clerk in a grocery store.

He would have never been elected. And if a black man made the mistakes and told the lies Bush did, he'd be under the jail by now.
