It's only terrorism when it happens to us
This is what I was told last night during a discussion of what happened in London, what happened in Paris and what continues to happen throughout the Middle East. "It's only terrorism when it happens to us." I was stunned last night, but now I think this may be a good summary of the pro-war crowd. They honestly don't view the orders given to our own military as terrorism -- and they cannot fathom why others, even those who are losing loved ones by our hand, would ever think it to be so.

1. To the US they are insurgents, to the Iraqis they are...
...freedom fighters. Just like when we were commiting genocide on the native Americans a hundred and fifty or so years ago. The were "savages" and "squatting on our land".

2. The Ugly American is alive and well
so many Americans think only America matters. They really have no clue about the rest of the world. As the world gets smaller, and more people come here from other countries, bringing their culture with them, these people freak out with fear and hatred.

4. I had never seen that one before today
I'm sickened. I'm saddened. Worst of all, I have no idea how to combat those within my own country who continue to believe beyond all the realities that we - the USA - are the victims. This is the translation of the "War on Christmas" to the common man. It doesn't matter that we are the majority, that we have all the toys and weapons, that we live better than 99% of the rest of the world's occupants. Because they will not stand up and believe exactly as we do -- because they will not live exactly as we do -- because they dare question us: we are the oppressed and everyone else should hide under rocks or feel our wrath.
