* Official response to the War on Christmas *
Edited on Thu Dec-15-05 09:52 AM by rpgamerd00d
(This is the reply for any Dem politican, or even us regular schmoes, when asked about the "War on Christmas")

"War on Christmas? No, there is no war on Christmas. There is a war on Tolerance. There are just a few Christian extremists who feel its ok to disrespect their fellow Americans of different religions. The reason we say "Happy Holidays" or "Seasons Greetings" is to show politeness and respect for the many various cultures and religions that exist here in this great country of ours. Being polite and respectful is something the Christian religion taught me, and teaches everyone who follows it. I find it very insulting that a group of radicals would soil the good name of Christianity by actually suggesting that we should be impoilte, disrespectful and worst of all, intolerant, to fellow Americans. Then again, I really don't pay much attention to what radicals say in the first place."

(Buh-bye!)

1. There is no war on Christmas.
There is a war on tolerance. We can be a Christian nation and still be tolerant.

3. "War on Tolerance" is almost too good to save for a response.
We should put that out there pre-emptively as it's own meme. Let the rw fundacies play defense.

8. that's great!
It's classic framing strategy. Instead of always complaining about the Republicans' memes, we need our own.

We shouldn't even use the phrase "War on Christmas" -- every time we use it, we're advertising the idea.

4. Christmas is a Liberal Holiday. When was the last time
Republicans did anything for poor people besides make them poorer?

6. When do Republicans do *anything* Christlike?
I find it fascinating that a party which aligns itself so closely with "Christian values" then goes on to act in ways completely opposite to everything Jesus did, said, or stood for. And the Christian Right continues to support them, blind to the manifest failure and decidedly un-Christlike nature of this administration.

It's hard not to conclude that devoutly religious people are easy to fool. Again, and again, and again. Maybe they're "turning the other cheek"?

7. I think the truly religious are repulsed by these horrible
fakes.

It's the "Only on Sunday" crowd that follows them blindly or, maybe not so blindly.
